My grandpa once told me that it is a woman’s prerogative to change her mind. In every scenario and especially in business, you have the power to niche down, do a big scale do-over or reposition whenever you think you need to. Successful leaders and entrepreneurs exercise the right to change their minds.

My guest today is the perfect example of a successful entrepreneur ending one business to start another that felt more aligned with her ambitions and goals. If your business doesn’t fulfill you or make you happy, eventually it will plateau. But, being aware of your positioning and knowing when it’s time to pivot can prevent that.

This is easier said than done because as women, we’ve been conditioned to fit in and never leave anyone behind, including customers. How do you uplevel your business and move on from your loyal following?

In today’s episode, I’m joined by sales coach and “unapologetic wealth creator,” Jess Lorimer. Jess is the founder of Smart Leader Sell and focuses on corporate sales, but this isn’t what her business always looked like. She’s sharing how her decision to take bold action came about and how she implemented it. We’ll discuss the bumps she faced along the way as well as the reasons women entrepreneurs struggle with taking massive action. If you have ever wanted to call time-out on the business you are building, this episode is for you.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • What prompted Jess to make the decision to change her business.
  • What happens when you aren’t fulfilled by the business you’re building.
  • How women are socialized not to leave anyone behind.
  • Why women hold themselves back from making major decisions.
  • The 2 different types of fear we face as business owners.
  • Why selling transparently is the least sleazy form of sales.

What impact would it have on your life if you took the best and left the rest? In all areas of your life, how would keeping what’s essential and getting rid of the rest improve it? Real growth comes when you refine your focus and return to what matters.

Many of you are wondering how to get faster at making money. You’ve established what it is you’re good at and what you can offer, now you’re ready for the next level. That next level is the final “P” in this podcast’s name, Position.

You will find riches in your niches. When you narrow your focus, refine what you offer, and focus on your Most Valuable Buyers, amazing things happen. You speed up the flow of money and you increase your sales velocity.

In today’s episode, I’m talking about the remarkable and disruptive power of niching down. By taking the best and leaving the rest, you’re left with a smaller field to play and practice in. I’m sharing how you can master your sales velocity and get faster at making money just by refining your attention and narrowing your focus. By assessing your position in the marketplace and in your MVB’s lives, you can double down on what’s truly essential.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • What it means to take the best and leave the rest.
  • How having the courage to refine can change your life and your business.
  • Why the riches truly are in the niches and what that means.
  • How to refine in a way that doesn’t alienate your current customers.
  • Why you need to get clear on what your MBVs want.
  • My key action step for beginning your research on your MVBs.

Your brand is more than your products, your services, and even yourself. The most successful businesses take branding a step deeper by uncovering a brand promise. This is your presence in the marketplace and in your Most Valuable Buyers’ lives.

Brands like Apple, BMW, and Geico all have comprehensive, evocative brand promises that lay the foundation for their content and marketing. I know that once you uncover your brand’s promise, all that pent-up demand will start flowing along with the money.

Remember, great brands aren’t invented. They’re uncovered. And by getting really clear on your message, you can start using your voice to find your voice. It’s always clarity before creativity. Your brand promise is the heartbeat of your messaging.

In today’s episode, I’m delving into the second “P” of Power + Presence + Position and sharing why I think it’s so important to uncover your brand promise. I’m sharing the exact steps to find your brand promise and why I chose “Unapologetically Ambitious” as my own. You and I are both here to achieve long-lasting success, not to be one-hit wonders. Cultivating presence is a key part of your brand’s foundation.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • The actual definition of “brand” and “brand promise.”
  • 6 businesses who are nailing their brand promises.
  • Why your brand promise needs to be comprehensive and evocative.
  • How to uncover your brand promise.
  • Why using your voice helps you find your voice.
  • How I landed on our brand promise and how it impacts all aspects of our business.

I love getting a behind-the-scenes look at how other women entrepreneurs are growing their companies. It’s so fascinating to see what steps they’re taking to build their dominions and discover what I can learn from them.

Hiring is one of those behind-the-scenes functions of a business that outsiders don’t get to see. That’s why, today, I’m sharing how exactly I created my hiring plan for the rest of 2020. It’s also how I’m activating my power in my business.

Power is one of the three pillars of this show, along with Presence and Position. Not only is power a loaded word when it comes to women and business, but it requires you to have immense clarity and conviction. Hiring the right people requires you to use your power to shape your future.

In today’s episode, I’m diving into power, where it comes from, how it shapes you as a leader, and thus, your business. I want to show you how I made my hiring plan because getting clear about how your company will grow is powerful. When we start tolerating things in our business, it means it’s time to get real about our power and get clear about our path to success.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • What power is and where it comes from.
  • How I created my hiring plan for the rest of 2020.
  • Why frustration can be a signal from your internal guidance system to pay attention.
  • How to discover what you’re tolerating in your business.
  • How profit pressure can contribute to entrepreneurial burnout.
  • Why you can only be in your power when you have clarity and conviction.

I’ve heard time and time again from so many of you that you’re seeing this time as a positive set up for what’s next. You’re ready to start implementing the changes you’ve decided you want to make and create something new from the ashes. This is called taking bold action and it’s about moving forward based on what you know to be true.

In the final part of this series, I’m talking about facing the fears that are standing in the way of you and your bold action. We become entrepreneurs because we desire freedom, but then fear creeps in and prevents up from exercising that freedom.

Fears are always going to exist, but if we never face them we’ll always be afraid. I’ve noticed that when I’m avoiding looking at something, it’s typically because there’s unexplored fear there. And it’s holding me back from taking bold action.

In today’s episode, I’m sharing how you can face your fears and get clear on what you want. I want to encourage you to face your fears, work through them, and find the clarity you need to move forward. Who run this mother? You do.

And one more thing. Although this is the final episode of Fierce Feminine Leadership, tune in next week for the very first episode of my new podcast, Power Presence Position!

  • What stops us from taking bold action.
  • The four big fears that control what we don’t do.
  • The different ways fear shows up.
  • How women have been conditioned to be unclear about what we want.
  • That you can’t take bold action until you face your fears.

This pandemic has created a big opportunity for growth. Both in your business and internally. But, for many women entrepreneurs, we’re stuck in this in-between time. Things are not like before, but they also aren’t the new normal yet.

This is Part 1 of my four-part series, The Big Pivot. Throughout this series, I will be giving you insights and guidance on managing your mindset during this time and showing up for your business. To start, I encourage you to embrace this time as an opportunity to take stock.

We don’t have the distractions of pre-pandemic times to focus on. Instead, we have more time to evaluate what was working and what wasn’t. We can decide if going back to a physical location is really what we want, or if we are in need of a reinvention.

In today’s episode, I take you through the first two steps of The Change Cycle so you can embrace growth during this time. I share why it’s okay and even necessary to go into the dark and to cocoon on a daily basis. I also share how to not overthink the light and to show up for your business in the best way you can.

Today on the Fierce Feminine Leadership Podcast:

  • Why this pandemic has created the opportunity to take stock.
  • How it’s ushering women into a new era of leadership.
  • What a Catalytic Event is and what it means for you.
  • How to embrace chaos and uncertainty.
  • Why having dedicated dark time is important.
  • My tips for experiencing and getting through this shift.

Are you wondering if it’s really worth it to record a podcast, film a video, or write a blog post that no one sees or hears? Your time is valuable, and this can be frustrating. But, my answer is unequivocally 100% yes.

Consistency is the oatmeal-flavored solution to your audience-growing goal. It’s not flashy, it’s not glamorous. Most entrepreneurs ignore it (mistakenly). But to have a large audience that tunes into your content, you need to be consistent.

Back when I was a newspaper journalist, I had to produce a story a day. That’s a lot of content production! It trained me to show up constantly, clarify my voice, and discover my interests. Even if what you produce at the beginning isn’t great, it’s important.

Today, I explain how to build the habits of consistency so you can grow your audience. That’s the real secret behind your role models’ success. Rachel Hollis, Katie Couric, and Oprah Winfrey all show up consistently with value. I also share why not showing up consistently makes your audience feel like they’re married to an emotionally unavailable spouse.

Today on the Fierce Feminine Leadership Podcast:

  • Why your content isn’t getting the engagement or reach that you want.
  • Why it’s an opportunity to create like no one's watching when you first start.
  • How Katie Couric, Rachel Hollis, Oprah, James Clear, and Marie Forleo show up consistently.
  • That there truly is no such thing as an overnight success.
  • My top tips for mastering the habit of consistency.
  • How to choose the perfect medium for your content.

Are you worried that the marketing you do today will contribute to the online noise? Perhaps you’re feeling uneasy about marketing your products and services in the era of COVID-19 - feeling like everyone is ‘Zoomed out” and uninterested in joining yet another webinar or online workshop. In all of the noise currently happening in the online space, it’s natural to feel overwhelmed when we see the influx of ads landing in our inboxes and showing up in our social media feeds. But while these feelings are normal - they shouldn’t stop you from marketing your brand.

So, how can fierce female leaders continue their marketing efforts without contributing to the online noise?

Today, I explain how your company can stand out from a marketing standpoint during the coronavirus crisis. I discuss a big lie you may be telling yourself and how this might be impeding your brand’s potential in the online marketplace. I discuss how industry leaders, like Apple and Disney, overcome economic adversity and continue to grow and succeed well after an economic recession.  I also highlight why it is crucial to lead rather than hide and focus on sharing with your audience rather than looking externally.

“Noise isn’t the enemy of most entrepreneurs - obscurity is the enemy.” - Eleanor Beaton

Today on the Fierce Feminine Leadership Podcast:

  • The importance of having a clear message and presenting it skillfully
  • Lies and assumptions we hold onto when it comes to marketing, and who your real enemy is
  • Why advertisement rates are going down on many platforms

Should you reduce your prices in the face of an economic downturn? This is a question many fierce feminine leaders and entrepreneurs are asking as we continue to face economic uncertainty around the world and develop a strategy to position our businesses to weather the storm. While cutting our prices may seem like the obvious solution to surviving an economic crisis, there are other ways to safeguard your business and position yourself for success.

Today, I explain why I believe cutting your prices during an economic downturn is a ‘knee-jerk’ reaction for many business leaders and the long-term impact it can have on your business - long after the recession has ended.  I highlight the importance of being creative with meeting your customers where they are and share alternative strategies you can use to continue building your business without reducing your prices. I also highlight what you should and should not offer for free as well as how adding value can strategically link back to your sales process.

“The pricing decisions that you make today are going to impact your business, not only in the short-term but also for years after the economy recovers.” - Eleanor Beaton

Today on the Fierce Feminine Leadership Podcast:

  • How the pricing decisions you make today will impact your business after the economy recovers

There is a 7-figure CEO inside of you. Are you ready to unleash her? The truth of being an entrepreneur or business leader is that your decisions impact and influence those around you. In taking decisive action towards your business goals, it is essential to evaluate whether or not the information in which you are basing your decisions is accurate and well-informed, rather than muddled with assumptions and biases.

Today, I share the importance of differentiating between real facts and false facts so that you can improve your decision-making abilities, make baller moves, and find clarity about the actual value of your business. I provide tough love on how your perception of reality can be detrimental to your sales and the future of your business. I also highlight five steps you can implement today to evaluate whether you are making grounded judgments or falling into the trap of believing false facts.

“False facts don’t stand up when you really shake them. You cannot ascend to the top of the tree when you are trying to scale with false facts.”- Eleanor Beaton

  • When and how constructive thinking happens and why it matters to our decision-making
  • How coaching can help to challenge you, your business and your decision-making abilities

5 Step Process to Determine Real Facts vs False Facts:

  1. Journal about the problem for one to two pages
  2. Change your environment. Do something to cleanse/step back.
  3. Highlight every belief and every fact in your writing.
  4. Go back and ask yourself…
    1. Is this true?
    2. What hard evidence do I have that this is true?
    3. What is the opposite of this ‘fact?’
    4. What hard evidence do I have that the opposite is true?
    5. What is opening up for me right now?
  5. Hire a coach
