Gut instincts are critical for women in business. Your gut helps you accurately read other people, respond to information quickly, and build a version of success that perfectly suits YOUR unique needs and desires. But many high achieving women disconnect from their instincts over time. In this episode Eleanor shares one simple tip for connecting and trusting your gut instincts…and allowing them to guide you.

In today’s episode, I am joined by the fabulous Australian-based mentor, speaker, and the expert in Wellness Psychology and Human Potential, Suzi Petrozzi. Suzi has worked with thousands of high-achieving, successful women in business around the globe, helping them overcome obstacles and move past crossroads in their lives and careers that are often developed over emotional barriers. Suzi is the founder of an award-winning wellness center – Petrozzi Wellness Center – in Sydney, Australia, which she works alongside her husband, John. She has worked as a clinical psychologist for over 13 years, and this experience has driven her passion to help her clients on a more intimate level.

In our last episode of Fierce Feminine Leadership, We talked a little about emotional barriers, criticism, taking things personally, and self-awareness. Today, Suzi shares her expert knowledge and experiences while helping her high-achieving, successful clients and explains what you need to do to overcome your emotional obstacles, what questions you need to ask yourself to break down barriers and transform yourself and your career down the path of success.

  • How does she combine the outward-facing speaking and coaching practice side of her business with the reality of running a multi-disciplinary wellness center?
  • What was the most monumental turning point in her career that made her shift her focus and impacted her success?
  • How big of an issue is stress and overwhelm for high-achieving women and how do you break the cycle?
  • What does Suzi mean by “ideas and emotions need to be moved?”
  • What have been the top three success factors for Suzi?

Suzi’s Words of Wisdom:

  • Ask yourself: “What do I want?”

Whether you are running a business or running a marathon, high-performance is a critical skill to have in order to “finish the race.” As many of my wonderful listeners already know, I am a huge fan of high-performing women, athletes, entrepreneurs, and business executives. However, throughout my coaching experience, I often see many women that have the potential to be high performers, but somehow fail to unlock that potential – leaving it on the table. Today, I share with you four critical psychological skills that all high-performers must have and master in order to achieve success in life, business, and sports.

Unless you’re living a high-performance lifestyle in business and life, you are leaving potential on the table.

My Challenge for You:

  • Think about what would be possible if you could unlock 15% more potential without creating more time in a day or upgrading your skills.
  • Think about what would be possible for humanity if everyone could unlock 15% more of their
  • Think about how the whirlwind of your life is affecting your ability to achieve your wildly important goals.

The 4 Critical Psychological Skills of High-Performers:

  1. Focus
  • Focus to work through the whirlwind.
  1. Visualization
  • Visualize the “end game” and what steps you need to take to achieve it.
  1. Setting Effective Goals
  • Drastically narrow your focus down. Set smaller goals to achieve the W.I.G.
  1. Dealing with Distractions
  • Learn how to say a powerful “no” to stay on track with your vision and goals.

When you unlock your capacity by 10, 15, 20 percent – think about what is going to be possible for your family, the people you love, and humanity as a whole.

Book Recommendation:

I highly recommend checking out Annette Verschuren’s new book, “Bet On Me,” an inspiring book on Annette’s philosophy on what it takes to be a highly successful leader.

Women are essential to affect change in order to lead our homes, businesses, our communities, and the world. We come from diverse backgrounds, and everyone’s story is unique, valuable, and helpful to us so we can turn our survival stories into success stories.

My guest today is Dr. Venus Opal Reese, and she shares her incredible story of being on the streets to who she is now - The Black Women Millionaires Mentor, an inspirational speaker, and the creator and CEO of Defy Impossible Inc. In today’s episode, Venus doesn’t hold back while she explains how you can benefit from your pain story while keeping your sense of self on your quest to become the best you can be as a fierce feminine business leader.

“I don’t think people buy your skills – I think they buy your energy.”

Dr. Venus Opal Reese

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • Venus tells you how she went from a dire situation to obtaining her degrees from Stanford University to making her millions.
  • She explains her business model and how she motivates her tribe to dollarize their pain.
  • Venus talks about survival strategy as an entrepreneur.
  • We hear Venus tell us about someone who built their message around their skills and transformed it to the message around their pain.

Do you get frustrated at how long things are taking? Do you think things should be much easier? As a coach, I notice impatience is normal among fierce feminine leaders, so rest assured you’re not alone.  Possessing and bringing a sense of urgency to your business is a positive step but it can go the opposite way where your impatience causes you to resist embracing a high level of performance.

Years ago, I had the opportunity to interview Stanford University psychologist Dr. Carol Dweck who is the author of the book Mindset which is like a bible to me in my coaching practice. Her book pinpoints two type of mindsets, fixed and growth, and how we use these attitudes to either move forward or keep us back from realizing our goals.

So, on today’s episode, I’ll talk about fixed and growth mindset so you understand what may be keeping you back from your goals. Our attitudes are not set in stone, and many intelligent and competitive women break out of their negative mindsets to achieve success no matter how long it takes.

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • I’ll tell you about what the fixed mindset does that may hold you back in your business or career pursuits.
  • When you’re in a growth mindset, you are open to learning, and there’s no stopping how far you can go to see success.
  • I’ll tell you about what happens when you focus on how long something will take you.
  • I address those who get discouraged by the length of time it takes to get to their goals.

My Challenge to You:

  • Get in the zone; you have to flip the switch so that you see that the length of time it takes to see success is a path to mastery and not something you’re doing wrong.
  • Focus on the ground you cover in your pursuit of achievement instead of focusing on how long it takes to get to your destination.

An interesting point was mentioned during my last episode while interviewing Vicki Saunders, the founder of SheEO. She said that women are not asking for help in their businesses – that many women feel they need to do everything on their own in order to be, or feel, successful and accomplished. In reality, though, it is incredibly hard to do everything on your own without asking for help and developing a team.

In this episode, I want to share some tips with you on five ways you can ask for help, and three ways you can ask in the right way.

5 Ways You Can Ask for Help:

  1. Ask for Introductions
  • An introduction is a powerful pre-framing technique in terms of positioning and allowing you to gain access to that person’s network.
  1. Ask People to Spread the Word Through Their Social Media Networks
  • Ninja Move Tip: When asking people to spread the word through their social media platforms, give them an image and some text they can use to promote.
  1. Ask for Advice
  • A wise woman once said, “When you ask for money, you get advice. When you ask for advice, you get money.”
  1. Have a Focus Group or Advisory Board
  2. Interview People

3 Tips on How To Ask for Help In the Right Way

  1. Be Mindful of a Person’s Time
  • Follow the 10-minute rule: “Hey, can we chat for about 10 minutes on the phone? I really need some advice.”
  1. Know What You Want
  • Having a clear picture of what you want and how it fits into your business’ “bigger picture” will help others help and collaborate with you easier and more efficiently.
  1. Have a Beginner’s Mindset
  • Maintain a balance between being open to information and closing down the information so you can implement.

“The most dangerous thing that can happen to a leader is that she begins to cut herself off from information” – Eleanor Beaton
