Have you ever found yourself saying “This shouldn’t be this difficult?” Have you ever caught yourself feeling frustrated while trying to make an important decision or find a solution to a problem?

One of the most exciting things I experience as a coach while working with clients who are fierce, high-performing feminine leaders is that each month I can almost always spot a trend. This month’s trend with many of my clients have been that these fierce, strong, capable women are experiencing a phenomena called “Limiting Thought.”

So, today on the show, I want to share a story with you. A story about something that happened to me not too long ago that made me realize that I, too, was experiencing the ‘limiting thought’ phenomena. I’m going to share with you what I did to overcome it, and why it is so important that you connect with your own inner tough love mentor during times when you are experiencing the limiting thought phenomena.

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • The phenomena called “limiting thought” is a specific belief or belief system that blinds you – paralyzes you – to what is actually possible. It makes you believe a false sense of reality.
  • Our beliefs are by far the greatest limitations we face.
  • Hard things often fool us into believing that you no longer want what you said you wanted.
  • Don’t live the lie that you don’t want something just because it’s hard. Doing hard things builds character, gives you experience that others don’t have. If you want something – give it your best effort. You can do hard things.

My Challenge to You:

  • Think about a time in your life when there was something that you really wanted, but you pushed it off because it was hard.
  • Clearly identify what it is that you want and determine why you want it.
  • Find your inner Shaniqua – do what it is you really want to do, regardless of fear or limiting thought.

There is a lot of content created and published across the internet that is meant to help women, business executives, and entrepreneurs find a higher sense of success; to inspire and empower them to achieve their dreams. But there’s one piece of advice that is fundamentally important, yet rarely talked about.

Owning what you know. Living with conviction.

Dolly Parton defined it best when she said that the life of conviction “is about figuring out who you are and doing it on purpose.”

Today, I want to share with you why knowing who you are, knowing what you know, and projecting confidence, conviction, and staying clear on your point of views is vitally important to the overall success of your life, your business, your career.

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • The state of knowing has a deep impact on your ability to break through and uplevel your business and career.
  • Owning what you know is the fundamental key to having greater impact and influence with your clients, colleagues, and other influencers.
  • Influential people want to hire, promote, and buy from women who project confidence, conviction, and have a clear point of view.

When You Own What You Know:

  • You feel less overwhelmed
  • You project greater energy
  • You are seen as a credible expert in your field
  • You have a broader impact
  • You are able to command more money and access to more opportunities

My Challenge to You:

  • Let go of the things that are holding you back from owning what you know.
  • Be clear about what you want – and go after it.

Special Announcement:

This Fall, I have two private coaching spots open!

If you are ready to:

  • Own your ambitions.
  • Transform your sense of self to make room for success and self-significance
  • Create & CRUSH your goals to create a legacy you are proud of

I speak with countless Fierce Feminine Leaders every day. These are highly successful, motivated, driven women with great achievements under their belt, but often feel stuck in whatever it is they are doing.

They may be unhappy because they want to achieve greater things; they yearn for something more, something different, something meaningful, but they struggle with making the decision to go after what they want.

Ladies, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – we give our power away when we avoid making decisions.

On today’s episode, I want to talk to you about how to get “unstuck” in your life, your business, your career. I want to help you move past whatever is holding you back, whatever has you feeling stuck. I want to empower you to determine what it is that is holding you back, and figure out how to get out of the quicksand that is limiting your sense of success.

Areas where women often give their power away:

  • Deciding to start a side business
  • Deciding to pivot their business into a new area
  • Deciding to invest in a new training program
  • Deciding to take a sabbatical
  • Deciding to go on a trip or on vacation
  • Deciding to recommit to their health
  • Deciding to train for a marathon

Take a look at where you’re making decisions – or not making decisions. Then, close the loops. – Eleanor Beaton

Ask Yourself:

  • Where in my life right now am I not making decisions?
  • What do I really want?
  • What limiting beliefs or mental thoughts do I need to declutter, let go of, and close the loop on?

My Challenge to You:

  • Get quiet with yourself
  • Think about where in your life you are not making decisions or avoiding making decisions
  • Get out there and make a decision around it.

The quality of your life and your experience is directly connected to your willingness to make decisions – and own them!

Have you ever been in the situation where you are the expert, but you don’t feel like you are presenting yourself as an expert? Perhaps you feel like people are doubting your expertise even though you know deep down that you are an expert in your field – you know your stuff.

This happens a lot for high-performing, high-achieving women – especially when they are in the early years of growing their business.

So, what can you do to improve your communication and deliver the message that you are the high-achieving expert in your field?

Provide statistics.

On today’s show, I explain how knowing your killer statistics and how sharing those statistics with your audience can help you drive home the message that you are trying to deliver as well as where you can research to find relevant numbers about your topic or area of expertise if you are unsure of what those numbers are.

“When you have the relevant numbers about the industry or problem you are trying to solve – your point of view, your argument, becomes very difficult to dismiss.” – Eleanor Beaton

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • What are “killer statistics?”
  • What are some examples of statistics to use in your communication strategy?
  • Why are statistics so important in everyday and business communication?
  • Where can you go to gather information and research statistics in your industry, field, or on the topic you are going to discuss?
  • How many statistics should you have for your presentation, speech, in your marketing or workshops?
  • Where to use your killer statistics within your business?

Where to Use Your Killer Statistics:

  • In your speeches
  • In your workshops
  • In your marketing plans
  • On your LinkedIn profile
  • In your everyday conversations
  • Simply put…. use them everywhere!

My Challenge to You:

Find your killer statistics. Use them in everything you do for your business or career.

Are you ready to make a change in your life, your career, or your business? I’m talking about really ready to unlock your potential - to step into your power and achieve your dreams?

  • The Law of Attraction is a load of B.S. if it’s not accompanied with the Law of Congruency.
  • Actions speak louder than words. If you want something, you have to act on it. It doesn’t happen by magic.
  • Harboring self-doubt and fear negatively impacts your growth.
  • The key to living in congruence is having the ability to call your own bluff, committing to attaining your goals, and performing the actions necessary to achieve them.

4 Examples of Committing Yourself To YOU:

  • Cut back on your children’s extracurricular activities like sports and cheerleading to commit time for yourself.
  • Commit to investing in the accountability and support you need to actually launch the new product you’ve been talking about, planning, and designing for weeks, months, years.
  • Commit to getting the coaching you need to move past your fears and achieve the success you’ve been dreaming about.
  • Discipline yourself to make time for your own important activities. Make time for you before everyone else.

Today, I’m joined by one of the most inspirational women I know throughout the business and finance industry, Barbara Stanny. I have followed her work for many years, and, after reading her book Sacred Success: A Course in Financial Miracles, I was inspired so much by the information and insight she shared that I just had to reach out and ask her to be a guest on the show.

Barbara is a highly successful female in the finance industry. She is a best-selling author, having authored six books, is a highly-sought after speaker and coach, workshop facilitator, and has spent years as a journalist writing in the financial niche. She grew up in a wealthy family; her father is the “H” in H&R Block, but after a devastating financial bout due to her husband’s gambling addiction – she lost all of her inheritance and was forced to figure out her own path to financial freedom.

Today, Barbara shares her journey through the ups and downs of her financial success, the fears she had to overcome, and the inspiration she is determined to use to empower other women to gain control over their life, their power, and their financial freedom.

“When you learn to face what you fear; it can never control you again.” – Barbara Stanny

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • What does “Sacred Success” mean?
  • How has Barbara discovered sacred success?
  • What is the significance of the “dark night” in the soul when it comes to achieving success?
  • What is the difference between surrendering and having a lack of perseverance?
  • Why didn’t Barbara have the courage to write the book Sacred Success: A Course in Financial Miracles earlier in her career?
  • What changed her relationship with her power throughout her journey toward sacred success?
  • How has she claimed her power?
  • How does she want to be remembered in the world?
  • How does she set goals for herself?
  • What is the difference between a goal and an intention?
  • What big things can women do to gain control over their finances?

  • The difference between the “profit motive” and the “comfort motive.”
  • What internal shift did Barbara need to make to reach the 7-figure goal she set for herself?

Let’s be honest with ourselves for a moment. Have you ever felt like you were reaching the “burnout point” in your business or career despite the fact that you love your work? Have you noticed your business skyrocket beyond your imagination, becoming highly successful and being invited to amazing events, engagements, or projects, but caught yourself wanting to spend time sipping wine in front of the television instead of doing the tasks you’ve been asked to perform?

Perhaps you’ve questioned whether you’ve slipped into the “Imposter Syndrome” even though you are consistently providing high-quality work.

Many high-achieving women around the world feel this way – especially when they are up-leveling in their business or career. This is not a case of Imposter Syndrome, nor are you going through a burnout phase.

Instead, you are outperforming your self-image.

Rest assured, many women experience this – sometimes multiple times throughout their careers.

Today, I want to share with you the story of when I was outperforming my self-image, how I felt it was affecting my work and the quality of my work, and how I overcome this obstacle.

“Confidence is the belief that you are up to the challenge.” – Eleanor Beaton

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • Up-leveling in your business or career can significantly challenge your self-worth. Don’t fear it. Embrace it.
  • Your ego is meant to protect you – to keep you safe – but it can’t tell the difference between an animal attack and criticism.
  • If your self-worth is not matching up with your quality of work, your skills, your life, and your business, you are going to experience problems.
  • You are capable of greatness, but you have to align your self-image with your potential.

If you are serious about aligning your self-worth with your potential, and to truly step into your fierce, feminine power, I encourage you to reach out!

If you want to learn what it takes to align your self-image with the incredible underlying potential you have as a Fierce Feminine Leader, visit EleanorBeaton.com/Discover and apply to my Feminine Mastery Discovery Session!

Have you ever found yourself going into a meeting with the intention to stay quiet and observe what others are doing, listening to what your colleagues and peers are saying, instead of speaking up and asserting your own opinion? This is common with many women in business.

“Women are often less likely to speak up, to step into their power, because they feel their perceived competence and compensation may take a hit.” – Eleanor Beaton

Madeleine Albright, in 1993, was heading to her first Security Council meeting as the new U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. with the intention of staying quiet throughout the meeting to observe her male counterparts. To figure out “who was who” and identify who she could consider as an ally. She quickly discovered, however, that by not asserting her opinion, by merely observing others during this meeting, she was positioning herself – and the United States – to not have a voice in the important topics being discussed. She realized that she represented the voice of the United States.

“When it comes to influencing power, voice matters.” – Eleanor Beaton

If you have experienced this desire to be a spectator at a meeting, to remain quiet instead of stepping into your power at the boardroom table or meeting with clients – know that you are not alone. But, remember, without speaking up, your views, your opinions, your amazing ideas cannot be heard or discovered!

So, how do you find and assert your voice?

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • Sometimes our voices are silenced by ourselves.
  • Women are often less likely to speak up, believing that our perceived competence and compensation can take a hit.
  • Interesting statistic: of the top-ranked podcasts on Stitcher, 71% of podcasts are hosted by men while only 11% are hosted by women. This is despite the fact that over half of all listeners are women.

How to Master the Art of the Set-Up:

  • Be bold. Be assertive. Be professional – “I’m going to be very blunt, and it may be difficult to hear, but it is critical that I offer some specific feedback.”
  • Choose to link your directness to your underlying values – “Honesty and integrity are important to me, so it is vital that I express my opinion directly.”

My Challenge to You:

  • Lean into your power.
  • Speak up, even when it may be difficult for others to hear.

Welcome back, my fierce tribe! Today, I want to ask you: Are you too impatient? When you sit down and plan out your 30, 60, or 90 plan, do you become too impatient about seeing results quickly? Do you sometimes feel like your impatience interferes with your success or overall sense of happiness?

Throughout my experience of working with smart, high-achieving, ambitious women, impatience has been one of the most common concerns for my wonderful colleagues. But let me fill you in on a little secret:

If you are a high-achieving, ambitious person, impatience is a natural state of affairs for you.

This feeling is natural, but you need to know that it is also important to reframe it in a way that you can utilize it in a constructive way in your business.

Today, I want to share with you two ways that you can reframe your impatience and use it to achieve the happiness and success you deserve.

2 Ways to Reframe Your Impatience:

  1. Look at it as a sense of urgency that will fuel you to create results quickly.
  2. Use your intuition. Invite a sense of stillness into your life.

My Challenge to You:

  • Deal with your impatience. Analyze it. Reframe it in one of two ways so you can turn it into a constructive tool that you can use to achieve successful

Have you ever felt that nagging ball of nerves in the pit of your stomach when you want to ask your boss for a raise, but you’re too nervous to actually confront him and ask for it? Or perhaps you’ve thought about talking to a loyal client about increasing your rates, but have put it off for months because you’re simply not sure about how things will turn out or are simply too nervous to “go for the ask.”

You are not alone. In fact, thousands of high-achieving women would rather make less money or go without things they truly want instead of facing the tense moment of asking their boss, their client or voicing their strong opinion on a situation or topic they feel passionate about.

Today, ladies, I want to share with you a few stories on how not taming the tension can help you grow as a person and a professional and why you should get comfortable with it in your business and your life.

Make tension your best friend.

Tension is like the grit of sand in an oyster shell. When you let it sit, beautiful things can happen. – Eleanor Beaton

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Episode:

  • Why is tension a useful tool for personal and professional growth
  • Why women often avoid using tension as a powerful tool to help them achieve the things they deserve.
  • How to use tension to your advantage, in business and life.

Key Areas That Women Often Avoid Tension:

  • Asking for a raise in salary
  • Raising their rates with clients
  • Expressing their disapproval or opinion about a situation, topic, or idea because they don’t want to “rock the boat.”
  • Making a change

My Challenge to You:

  • Don’t be afraid of tension. Embrace it.
  • Become comfortable with tension. Make it your best friend.

Last week, I took a vacation to spend time with my amazing husband and two boys. On this vacation, we went to New Mexico to attend my 19-year high school reunion. During my vacation, I have come to learn many valuable lessons about myself – one of which was how much insecurity has impacted my life all through school as well as my early adult life.

Ladies, insecurity is a very, very common thing to experience. However, it also carries a huge price tag. Today, I want to get a little personal with you and share how my high school reunion has opened my eyes to “a whole new world,” how I plan to stop doubting myself and being insecure, and how you can go with me along this journey to becoming a more confident you!

We can’t change society without changing ourselves. – Eleanor Beaton

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Episode:

  • Research shows that 7 out of every 10 girls believe they are not good enough or don’t measure up in some way.
  • Self-esteem in girls starts to plummet after the age of 10.
  • Insecurity stops you from fully connecting with your experiences and the people around you.
  • Self-doubt is a waste of time, energy, and potential.
  • Be aware of your insecurities, kick them to the curb, and keep on truckin’.

My Challenge to You:

Join me in taking these steps to overcome insecurities, live to your fullest potential, and achieve goals you will be profoundly proud of 20, 30, or 40 years from now:

  • Say “no more” to hiding.
  • Say “no more” to trying to be nice when you really need to express your opinion.
  • Say “no more” to worrying whether or not you look awesome. (Deep down, you know you always look awesome!)
  • Say “no more” to doubting your abilities when you know your abilities are good enough for your purposes, or you have the tools you need to get them where they need to be to execute and fulfil your vision and purpose.
  • Be aware and diligent about when your insecurities rear their ugly head. Call them out, dust them off, lay them on the side of the track and move on.

It’s always a good idea to identify potential problems before starting out on something, but it’s not so great if you let them deter you from following through with your plans. Over the last month I’ve had several questions on this topic, all variations on the theme of “If I take this action, will this bad thing happen?” Often they’re valid concerns – but should they stop you doing something that your intuition tells you is a good idea? I don’t think so, and that’s why I decided to make this podcast.

In today’s episode I want to talk about this trend, why it’s holding us back and how we can rise above it. I’m taking inspiration from the words of Mark Twain - “I've lived through some terrible things in my life, some of which actually happened.”

How hypothetical problems hold us back – and why it matters

  • Your intuition whispers; your fears scream.
  • The voice of your intuition is worth listening to, but it’s quiet. It speaks quietly and softly, and you have to listen carefully for it.
  • Your fears, however, are really good at making themselves heard. Unless you make a conscious effort they can easily bulldoze your intuitive voice.
  • Learn what the fear voice sounds like, so you’ll recognize it when it tries to make you hold back.
  • Deal with problems that actually exist.
  • You need to deal with problems that are affecting you, but why be distracted by ones that might occur?
  • Being prepared is good, but when you start to listen to fears you’re leaning out, not leaning in.
  • Create the problem, then deal with it.
  • Often, problems arise when you take a step forwards. If you avoid the problems you’re also avoiding the opportunity.
  • Create the problem! You can overcome it, and it’s a sign that you’re getting somewhere.
  • I find that the problems people are worried about are actually good ones to have. You’re worried that you’ll end up with more clients than you can handle? Fantastic! Go for it; if
  • Real problems are easier to deal with than theoretical ones.
  • When you’re thinking about a problem you aren’t facing yet, what can you do about it? The only real solution is to avoid taking the steps that might cause it – but what will you be giving up if you do that?
  • Face the challenge.
  • Work your way into having some good problems to deal with. Bring on those extra clients or packed schedule.
  • I’ve never encountered a problem that I couldn’t deal with or find someone to help me with. Notice your fears, but don’t invest in them.
  • …especially fears of your own greatness!

Speaking engagements are a powerful strategy that many women thought leaders use to help build their businesses and position themselves as the ‘go-to’ expert in their fields. Many women thought leaders have the internal compulsion to get up on stage, share their stories, ideas, insights, and message to a larger audience – but are unsure of how to make it happen. They become perfectionists, focusing on perfecting their full-length speeches before they’ve even landed a speaking gig, or they have the desire to speak but aren’t sure about what it takes to step onto that big stage.

In today’s episode, I want to share with you five insider secrets about speaking engagements that you will want to know before stepping foot on the stage floor.

5 Insider Secrets About Speaking Engagements

  • The Business World Craves Women Speakers.
  • Conference organizers are looking for women speakers.
  • If you dream of speaking, make the internal commitment and just do it!
  • Don’t Expect to Be A Highly Paid Speaker… At First.
  • At first, you may need to accept free speaking gigs. Although you’re not getting paid to talk, you are getting something even more valuable: experience, reputation growth, and – potentially – new clients.
  • Solve A Problem For Your Audience.
  • Topics are boring. Solve a big problem for your audience.
  • Find a unique angle. Tell some stories. Make sure your speech addresses a big problem that your audience is struggling with.

Today’s episode was inspired by you – my wonderfully fierce feminine leaders listening to this podcast each week. In a recent survey, you asked me to share more tips on how to build and project confidence as well as overcome fears and obstacles you are dealing with in your career.

Ask, and you shall receive!

Today, I want to share with you five tips on how you can stand in your power while ‘plugging up’ various power leaks that you may be experiencing in your journey to becoming a high-achieving female leader.

5 Keys to Standing in Your Power

  1. Understand that criticism is a compliment.
  • Criticism doesn’t mean you are doing something wrong. It just means you are playing a bigger game.
  1. Take nothing personally.
  • When you take things personally, it not only affects you – it affects your family, your business, and your team.
  1. Learn to work with those you don’t like.
  • You don’t have to like everyone, but you do have to be able to work well with everyone.
  1. Brains don’t compensate for a lack of self-awareness.
  • No amount of education or training can compensate for your lack of self-awareness.
  • Continue to invest in and deepen your self-awareness.
  • Be a fan of humility.
  1. Your life is the result of your choices.
  • Don’t give your power away to someone else. Your life – your career – is the result of your own decisions.

Watching a woman transform and take control of her role as a female leader within her organization and step into her power is an incredible thing to witness. It’s like watching a flower bloom – she changes from a delicate, yet instrumental part of an organization’s nature to an impactful, beautiful blooming flower, ready to excite and impress the world around her.

As with the blooming flower, as she gains confidence and will often look different, sound different, and as her impact begins to increase, her income also generally follows suit.

Today, I want to share with you the seven critical strategies that high-achieving women need to develop to create unstoppable confidence, improve their impact within their organization or business, and increase their income.

Top 7 Strategies for Unstoppable Confidence

  1. Ask for forgiveness, not permission.
  • Success favors boldness
  1. Focus on iterations.
  • It’s not about perfection. It’s about iterations.
  • The more we put new work out into the world, the more we hone our confidence, get feedback in real time from real people, and ultimately, the better our products and services will be.
  1. Pick a horse and ride it.
  • You will find success when you choose a course of action, you commit to it, and you go for it.
  • The clarity you are seeking will come through the actions you take.
  1. Stay in action.
  • Take consistent daily actions toward your goals. Course correct as you go.
  1. Find new friends.
  • Your income and your experience will be a direct result of the five people you spend the most time with and are most influenced by.
  1. Conversations create.
  • Network
  • Ask yourself: How many conversations are you having on a daily, or weekly, basis? What are you talking about?
  1. Have a bias to boldness.
  • It is critical for you to stand out from your competitors. Be creative, have an opinion, and speak your opinion to stand out.

Hey there, my fierce ones! Today, I want to talk to you about a conversation that came up at a meeting I attended earlier this week with the CEO, partner, and the senior members of a large professional services firm. During this discussion, an interesting topic came up about how women sometimes need to bend – or break – some “corporate” rules, or ideas we perceive as rules, to step into our power and become the successful leaders we know we can be.

I was so inspired by this conversation and realized that many of the women that I work with every day are often feeling governed by a set of rules that may or may not exist in their organization. So I want to discuss briefly with you why it is so important for you to break a rule every now and then so that you can truly step into your incredible potential and lead your team on your terms, without sacrificing what matters most to you.

Here's a Breakdown of Today’s Episode:

  • The key to rising through the ranks in your organization is always to have a voice.
  • Step into your power. Take control of your schedule. Don’t be afraid to “break a rule” from time to time to lead your team effectively, but without sacrificing your freedom or what’s important to you.
  • Don’ limit yourself – your power – based on a set of rules you created for yourself.

“Sometimes, smart, ambitious women need to break some rules to create the freedom, the impact, and to have the rewards they deserve.” – Eleanor Beaton

My Challenge to You:

Stop worrying about whether you will get into trouble if you step into your power and use your voice. Don’t worry about getting into trouble for setting your own schedule around important things in your life.

Get out there, step into your power, use your voice, and be the ambitious women leader we all know you can be!

Hey, my fierce leaders! Welcome back to the Fierce Feminine Leadership podcast – the success podcast for ambitious women in business. In today’s episode, I talk a little about the power seat. When you walk into a boardroom, what seat do you usually take at the table? Do you sit at the head of the table? In the corner? Perhaps somewhere in the middle?

In the communications industry, your body language is as important as the things you say and the way you say them.

Think about it. When you enter a boardroom meeting, who is it at that table that commands to have their voice heard, their suggestions and ideas considered? Often, it is the one sitting in the power seat.

So, today, I want to share with you where the power seat is, and why you need to step into your power and take that seat at the big table.

Where Is the Power Seat in a Board Room and Why You Should Occupy It?

  • The power seat is the seat in the middle of the table.
  • Sitting in the middle of the table, with all of your peers surrounding you, puts you in a position of power. It silently signals to your executive peers that your voice and ideas are important and deserve to be considered.

My Challenge to You:

At your next boardroom meeting – and each and every following meeting – find a way to occupy the power seat at the table.

Hello, fierce ones! In today’s episode, I want to share with you a trend that I have noticed over the years while working with women entrepreneurs and female leaders. A trend that – honestly – we need to stop doing, or at least slow down on doing it.

Curating other people’s stories and messages in our businesses.

Ladies, it is time to step into your power, take control of your voice, and use your voice to curate and share you own stories and messages! Your audience wants to hear from you. They want to know your story. Your messages. Your ideas and passions.

Ladies, it’s time to take back the mic and use your voice, your stories, your messages, to empower others, establish a connection with your audience, and step into your power.

My Challenge to You:

If you are ready to play a bigger game in your industry, your business, or your non-profit – you need to start using your voice.

  • Quit paving the way for other people to tell their stories all the time. Start telling your own
  • Figure out a way to get your voice “on air” – either figuratively or literally.
  • Be conscious of all the times in your business and life that you have allowed other people to speak up for you or you “handed over the mic.”

We’ve talked about using your voice on the show before. It’s time now – my wonderfully fierce leaders – for you to use your voice and share your story and message with the world.

“Stop taking the back seat. Stop curating other people’s stories and messages. It’s time for you to speak up. Use your voice to tell your own story and share your own messages with the world. We want to hear from you.” – Eleanor Beaton

Processes – or more specifically, creating processes. If you are anything like me, you have a love: hate relationship with creating systems and processes within your business or organization. What are systems and processes? If you are an entrepreneur or a female leader in your organization, they help to empower your team by setting clear expectations and are a critical aspect of building a successful business.

Most female entrepreneurs and women thought-leaders go into business desiring more freedom. However, if your organization is lacking systems and processes that make it easy for your team to follow, can you really consider yourself ‘free’?

“If you really want to be free, the number one thing leaders and entrepreneurs need to do is set up systems and processes for everything in their business or organization.” – Eleanor Beaton

In today’s episode, I am going to share with you some practical ways that you can begin setting up systems and processes within your organization.

3 Practical Ways to Set Up Processes in Your Business or Organization:

  1. Pay attention to each and every instance that you notice yourself doing something more than once.
  2. Ask yourself (or your team): How can I improve my company? If you work with a small team – or even within a larger department – invite your team to participate in workshop-style meetings to brainstorm areas that can be improved. The second session can help you dwindle down their list of ideas into a “top 3” list of priorities as well as develop an action plan to implement a process to improve this area of the business.
  3. Devote at least one hour each week to improving specific aspects of your business, based on the initial feedback from your team – or for entrepreneurs – from the list that you created noting positive improvement areas.

“One of the things that you do as a female entrepreneur or leader is empower others. Setting up systems and processes in your business or organization promotes empowerment within your team or department and creates the foundation of success for your business.” – Eleanor Beaton

Like many of you, I am still learning how to love creating systems and processes in my organization, but we don’t have to do this alone. Take the journey with me and let’s build our successful businesses together.

Today, women are starting businesses faster than ever before! For instance, in the United States, women are starting businesses at a rate five times higher than the national average. In Canada, we are starting new businesses at twice the national average. At these rates, it is undeniable that women-lead businesses are taking industries by storm, but many women are failing to see (or utilize) the benefits of developing recurring revenue streams.

Today, I am going to explain to you what recurring revenue is, why millions of business owners consider it the “Holy Grail of Business,” and why it is crucial for you to begin developing a way to generate recurring revenue in your business.

“If you want to create a business that allows you to be truly free, you’ve gotta find a way to add recurring revenue into your business model.” – Eleanor Beaton

What is ‘Recurring Revenue,’ Anyway?

Recurring revenue is a way for your business to make one sale, and generate a steady income flow month after month on that initial sale. Recurring income is a lot like your phone bill – your telephone provider does not have to keep throwing sales pitches your way for you to continue giving them your business. Instead, the sold you on their telephone service once, and you continue to pay your phone bill month after month, year after year.

Two Great Examples of Businesses with Recurring Revenue:

2 Important Things to Consider To Build a Sustainable Business

  1. How much does it cost you to acquire a new customer?
  2. What is the lifetime value of that customer you have acquired?

How to Determine Your Customer Acquisition Costs:

  • The number of customers you currently have divided by the total sum of your marketing investments equals your customer acquisition cost.

“Recurring revenue decreases your customer acquisition costs and increases the value of that customer.”

My Challenge to You:

Identify a way to create recurring revenue in your business. It will this help you work smarter and increase your company’s worth as much as 2 1/2 to 3 times compared to other companies in your industry without recurring revenue streams.

Ladies, if you’re going to be working hard, I want to make sure you are also working smart. Developing recurring revenue in your business is a critical aspect of building a sustainable business that will allow you the freedom you want with the income you deserve.

Entrepreneurs – and aspiring entrepreneurs – frequently, and quickly, come to the realization as their businesses begin to grow that balancing their work life and personal life is a difficult challenge. I can relate – I have two boys, I travel every month, I run my own business, plus my husband is an entrepreneur.

Life can be pretty chaotic at times, and it can sometimes feel out of balance.

Today, I want to share with you my secret – my rule of thumb – on building my successful business while juggling travel, marriage, and raising my kids.

“Success in business is not about reinventing the wheel. It’s about doing a few core things and doing them very well, over and over.” – Eleanor Beaton

My Rule of Thumb for Keeping Life & Business ‘in Check’:

  • I remind myself: “I can handle the chaos and lack of balance as long as my family life is working well and my health is in good working order.”
  • Make sure that the effort you put into your business or career is worth it and makes sense

“Don’t change the act, change the audience.” – Lisa Sasevich

If you are looking to build a powerful career or business, you need to:

  • Get very clear on your message.
  • Get very clear on what the core things are that you need to focus on in your business.
  • And ask yourself: “Do I have the discipline and determination to continue focusing and perfecting those specific things – or am I going to catch the “bright, shiny penny” syndrome?

Remember, ladies, when you are pursuing something with dogged determination, the natural by-product of that persistence is that other aspects of your life are going to get out of balance.

Come to terms with this reality, and remind yourself that even when things are out of balance, you can handle the chaos as long as you maintain good health and are spending quality time with your family.

Jun 17, 2016

Welcome back, my fierce feminine leaders! In today’s episode, I am recording from the beautiful, warm, Austin, Texas where I am speaking at the EBW 2020 Abundance Live conference with several fabulous women, many of which are reinventing themselves in their careers.

But, today, I want to talk with you about the common question that many women leaders ask themselves – whether they are stepping into a bigger corporate role within their companies, or reinventing themselves as entrepreneurs.

Have you ever said to yourself: “What gives me the right to…”

  • Wear that dress
  • Apply for that promotion
  • Tell someone (respectfully) to shove it
  • Speak at an event or workshop
  • Write a book
  • Take off work early or take a break from work
  • Spend this much money on myself

Ladies, we all ask ourselves “What gives me the right” – especially when we are in the beginning stages of transforming our lives and careers – of reinventing ourselves.

“You have to come to terms with the idea that the only person that is going to give you the right to step into your power – to lead your way – is you.” – Eleanor Beaton

Do you know what’s the one thing that gives you the right to step into your power; to do the thing you truly want to do? The answer is simple – as simple as one word.

Desire.

Ladies, don’t make this journey harder than it needs to be by asking yourself whether or not you have the right. If you want to do it – if you have the desire to do it – that automatically imbues you with the right to do it.

Listen to me:

You have the right!

Changing careers and reinventing yourself is a difficult challenge. In my experience, many women who are trying to reinvent themselves and their careers often try to leave their past careers, experiences, and skills behind them. However, if you are trying to recreate yourself, your career, and your business, leaving your past behind you along with all of the experiences, skills, and insight that you have developed throughout your previous business is a huge mistake!

“Leaving your past behind you – especially when you are reinventing yourself – creates incongruence and in-continuity in your new career path.” – Eleanor Beaton

Ladies, if we want our new clients and customers to trust us, and to believe that we are a thought-leader in our industry, we must tell our stories!

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • Telling a cohesive, congruent story is critical for building brand equity, culture, and credibility for your business
  • Sonia Samen from Ebby Rane reinvented herself from a corporate attorney to a high-end fashion luggage entrepreneur.
  • Legendary CEO, Christine McGee, CEO and Founder of Sleep Country – the country’s biggest mattress retailer, started her career as a banker

6 Reasons to Tell a Cohesive, Congruent Story about You and Your Business:

  1. It is a key part of your brand equity
  2. It acts as a major differentiator
  3. It makes you more memorable
  4. It creates a sense of who you are
  5. It helps you build a culture for your business
  6. It is critical for building credibility

“Explaining your previous experience & how it helps you serve your current clients builds trust, positions you as an expert, and helps you attract your ideal clients” – Eleanor Beaton

Ask Yourself:

  • What are the threads that connect career #1 to career #2?
  • Think about the skill sets you used.
  • Think about the experiences you had.
  • Think about the insights they gave you and how they helped you be even better in your business and help you serve your clients or customers even better.

“When you are reinventing yourself – there is no such thing as a clean slate.” – Eleanor Beaton
