Sharing a Fabulous New Training Series…...

If you are starting a business or have just launched a business and you are in the thought leader, coach, consultant, or expert space, I want to share with you a fabulous new video training series that I’ve just launched.

In this 4 video training series you’ll learn:

  • The biggest mistakes that I see coaches, consultants and thought leader based people making when they are building their businesses.
  • Tips and strategies that you can put in place in your business right now in order to build a healthy thriving business

Head over to http://www.eleanorbeaton.com/training to learn more.

Today on Fierce Feminine Leadership……

Whether you are in a job interview or pitching for a new piece of business, chances are high that this year you are going to spend a lot of time in “critical conversations”. Today, I am going to share with 3 tips on how to handle a situation when you are in a critical conversation and someone catches you off guard with a question or comment.

3 Tips To Try When You Are Caught Off Guard……

Tip #1 Remember, this is not a “speak when you are spoken too” situation. You get to chose if you keep your power, or if you give it away. Yes, someone has asked you a question but that doesn’t mean you need to answer them right away, and it doesn’t mean that you need to come up with a brilliant answer. You have every right to take some time, to think it through before offering a response.

Tip #2 Watch your thoughts. Take a moment to acknowledge the thing that has surprised you with a simple comment. This allows you to engage but has still given you a little bit of breathing space in that moment. If you are in a situation where someone is expecting a quick response, simply say “thank you so much, can you give me about 30 minutes to gather my thoughts and get back to you?”.

Tip #3 PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE being caught off guard. It will make you so much more comfortable in the moment, and will actually make you less likely to be caught off guard.

Our partners play a very important role in our lives. We value their support more than anyone else in the world. It’s natural to feel this way and I have observed that many women in business expect their partners to give them 100% support with everything they do. This is where things usually go wrong.

One of our podcast subscribers reached out to me recently with this very dilemma. She wanted to know why the people whom we love hate what we do and most importantly, what to do when you find yourself in this situation.

In today’s episode, I'm going to share 5 coping strategies you can use when your biggest love doesn’t love your biggest idea. Stick around to the end of the podcast and I’ll even throw in 1 extra tip that is sure to help you develop a stronger relationship with your partner and boost your confidence to persevere with your dream.

The biggest problems happen when we run away from pain.

Key Points from today’s Fierce Feminine Podcast:

  • Don’t run away from the pain. Take the time to sit down and really feel your emotions. This is the first step to mastering your emotions.
  • Your partner cannot and will not be 100% supportive of you through everything that you do. The sooner you wrap your mind around this, the easier it is to deal with the hurt that come with being rejected by your loved one.
  • Your partner’s feedback is a subjective expression of his/her feelings and not necessarily an objective view of your plan. Listen to your partner’s opinion and learn to take the feedback constructively.
  • It is important to surround yourself with other people who can support you and help you grow.

5 Strategies to Cope when Your Biggest Love Doesn’t Love Your Biggest Idea

  1. Feel the pain.
  2. Examine your thoughts.
  3. Respect your partner’s feedback.
  4. Continue to explore and nurture your idea without the need for external approval.
  5. Talk to your partner.

Welcome to the last episode of the Fierce Feminine Leadership podcast for 2016! As we wrap up the year, I want to discuss an important topic for you to think about as you are planning your 2017 path to success – gender bias. What is gender bias? Is it still alive and well in today’s working world?

Absolutely.

Unfortunately, despite the incredible strides women in business have made over the past several years, gender bias is still a major part of our work, culture, and society. The beast still lives and breathes – it’s just harder to spot.

Today, I’m going to talk about what gender bias looks like in today’s working society, and how, although things are getting better at the middle-management level – top-level positions within many organizations still have plenty of room for improvement.

“When the ‘solutions’ for a problem are the problem themselves – that’s how you know that gender bias is alive and well”

Today on the Fierce Feminine Leadership Podcast:

  • In the upper echelons of power, things are not changing much for female leaders.
  • Gender bias has morphed into a nuanced phenomenon that has become harder to notice.
  • Women make up approximately 50% of Silicon Valley law firm associates – but only 17% of their equity partners.
  • Women make up only 4.6% of the CEOs of the S&P 500.
  • There’s been a lot of movement at the middle-leadership levels, but the number of women in senior management positions have hardly moved in over 20 years.
  • Women have the choice to build the skills they need to navigate the broken system. Don’t mistake this for a fixed

Dec 30, 2016

Over the course of the last several episodes, we have heavily discussed ways to help you take your business and career to the next level in 2017. Today, I want to discuss what the phrase “Work Smarter, Not Harder” really means so that you can plan your upcoming year down the right path toward success.

Working smarter doesn’t necessarily mean focusing exclusively on “doing the work.” Working hard is important, but there are other critical things you should consider and implement to truly make an impact in your community, your business, and your industry.

Today, I’m going to share the top 5 ways that many of the high-level, successful entrepreneurs and thought-leaders that I have worked with over the years have shared with me.

Ask yourself where you are in your genius zone.

5 Ways to Work Smarter in 2017:

  1. Leverage your competitive advantage – Identify and understand what your competitive advantage is – then leverage it as much as you can with great intention.
  2. Mediocre strategy, brilliant execution – Focus less on the strategy and more on the execution.
  3. Embrace today - The hunger to succeed is a good thing – it keeps you motivated to move forward, but it’s also important to remember that it’s okay to embrace the present. View today’s challenges as gifts and the gateway to reaching your next level of success.
  4. Develop your delivery system – Hard work is critical, but it also gets you more hard work. Your delivery mechanism is the basis of building up your pre-eminence and influence within your industry.
  5. Be Courageous – When you hold back information or an idea from other people, you’re being selfish. When you operate from a place of confidence and courage, you will work much smarter.

My Challenge to You:

  • Ask yourself: What are you doing that feels easy for you; that is fun for you to do and you can do quickly? What are you good at that people keep asking you about?
  • Stay focused on decent strategies, but move quickly into acting and executing on those strategies.
  • Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
  • Don’t just keep your nose buried in doing the work. Work on building your delivery system.
  • Be courageous and share your ideas.

2016 was truly the year for Beyoncé. After all, who else can drop a music album the day after the Super Bowl without using any type of promotion? Not only that, she also became the first woman in history to chart 12 songs on the Hot 100 billboards at the same time, plus she is the only entertainer to be on the Forbes 50 Most Powerful Women in Business list!

That, my fierce friends, is how you kill it in your career!

Beyoncé is truly a fierce feminine leader and one without peer in the music and entertainment industry. But, what can we learn from her lady-boss skills to help us improve our own leadership skills and become the fierce lady-bosses we want to be in 2017?

Today, I’m going to share with you the top 5 boss lessons that every woman in business should learn from the Queen B herself!

Your brand is an asset & worth protecting and managing.

5 Boss-Lady Lessons from Beyoncé to Kill It in 2017:

  1. Get in the trenches – Don’t be just your company’s voice and figure for your brand. Be the CEO – the hands-on
  2. Embrace the Element of Surprise – Don’t wait for permission from others. Don’t lose your sense of “show-womanship.” Leverage the element of surprise to create enormous momentum.
  3. Build Influence – Understand the rules of the game. Find out who the power players in your industry are and get to know them. Build relationships – then you can change the game.
  4. Have a voice – Take a stance in things you strongly believe in. Use your influence to do the right thing.
  5. Manage perceptions – Think about your brand and the message you are conveying to others about your brand.

My Challenge to You:

Ask yourself:

  • Where do you need to be more engaged in your business or career to ensure you get the results you want?
  • Where can you leverage the element of surprise?
  • Who can you form a relationship with to begin building your influence?
  • Are there places where you are projecting or approaching something that are out of sync with your personal or business brand?

It’s that time of year again! Time for fierce feminine leaders to take a step back and reflect on the year they have had in 2016. Time to make plans for the upcoming 2017 year, envisioning the big goals they want to achieve for their business or career and map out how they want to achieve those goals.

So, over the course of the next few episodes, I want to help you map out your success strategy for 2017 through a few “mini trainings” that will help you make 2017 your best, most productive year ever!

If you’ve listened to episode 101, you’ll remember that I shared how my fierce team and I was able to achieve all of our goals this year and the productivity secrets we used to get it all done – all while juggling our everyday life commitments and responsibilities.

Today, I want to share with you 5 tips we use to improve our commitment level to help us stay on task, stay motivated, and just get things done.

When it comes to integrity – your word is your bond.

Today on the Fierce Feminine Leadership Podcast:

  • Everyone has wishes for their business or career – but without commitment, it doesn’t evolve into an actionable goal.
  • Don’t live in a state of “wish-hood.” Create an action plan to turn that wish into a reality.
  • The difference between the ladies that make things happen and those who keep wishing things would happen – is commitment.
  • Commitment gives you purpose. It gives you something to drive toward.

5 Fierce Ways to Increase Your Commitment Level:

  1. Prune First – Make space for good things to happen. Take a close look at what is no longer serving you.
  2. Make Use of Visual Anchors – Visual reminders are a constant reminder of what you have committed to. They keep your goals at the forefront of your daily planning and strategy, making you more likely to achieve those goals.
  3. Make a Public Announcement – Telling people about your goals helps you become more committed to them and feel more accountable about fulfilling them.
  4. Take Decisive Action – Decide to make a significant investment in achieving your goals.
  5. Manage Your Thoughts – Especially the thoughts you have related to risk and fear.

One of the qualities that we consistently see in fierce feminine leaders is courage. The courage to step outside their comfort zone; the courage to build and create amazing content; and the courage to step into their leadership role and find and use their voice to make an impact on the world around them – through their life, their business, and their community.

My guest today is one of the most courageous women I have had the pleasure of meeting. Shade Adu is a female entrepreneur who was recently listed as one of the Top 50 Must Follow Entrepreneurs in 2017 by the Huffington Post. She is an empowerment speaker, brand strategist, and the founder of Savvy Consulting, LLC., a company that offers online branding services for women entrepreneurs.

She teaches entrepreneurs how to strategize and establish themselves as visible and credible online rock stars. On today’s episode, she is going to share some of her secret strategies that entrepreneurs can use to break out into the online community and get seen by their target audience. We’ll also discuss how she pivoted her business from offering life coaching services to becoming the Rockstar brand strategist that she is today, and she shares her valuable insight on what women entrepreneurs need to do to shift their mindset to grow their business and improve their income.

“Branding is an emotional experience that you create for your target audience.” – Shade Adu

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • Shade’s story – how she started her business and what she does to help female entrepreneurs.
  • What hurdles and challenges she faced while transitioning her business from being a life coach to a brand strategist.
  • How the things you do and manage in your life can translate into work experience – and how you can leverage that experience to grow your business.
  • Why most people in business do not care about education and credentials – it’s about the results you can give them.
  • What you can learn from movie previews when you’re rebranding your business.

Shade Adu’s Branding Tips:

  1. You must know who you are.
  2. Get clear about your target market.
  3. Learn what your audience wants from you.

Shade Adu’s Top Success Factors:

  • Investing in coaching and mentorship.
  • Investing in help – hiring a team.

Dec 14, 2016

It’s mid-December and as we prepare for the upcoming holiday season, many of you successful women in business – myself included – are taking a few moments to reflect on what we accomplished throughout the 2016 year. This is the time to think about what worked well, what worked not-so-well, and what we want to do to propel our business into a successful start in 2017.

For my business, 2016 has been an amazing year packed with international traveling, keynote speaking, and running half-day and full-day workshops, and much, much more. My team has been phenomenal in helping me achieve these goals for this year.

But I’m frequently asked, “Eleanor, how do you get so much done?”

My answer to that is: The key ingredient is the ability to implement, execute, and just get things done.

So today, I’m taking a deep dive into exactly what fierce feminine leaders need to do to get things done; to achieve all their goals, aspirations, and yearly objectives and what it takes to really step into your power and take your seat at the big tables.

Fierce Feminine Leaders’ Top 10 Tips to Get Things Done:

  1. Protect Your Mental State – Don’t focus on hypothetical problems. Only focus on real
  2. Make Firm Commitments – Instead of talking or thinking about things, commit firmly to them and take action.
  3. Say “No” – A Lot – Your ability to cut off things so you can focus genuinely on a few things that are important to you is critical to your success and getting things done.
  4. Protect Your Mind – Surround yourself with people that are positive, self-aware, and uplifting.
  5. Reflect & Look Back – Take stock of the day – and week – that was. Take notice of the cumulative progress that you have made.
  6. Focus on High-Impact Outcomes – Instead of focusing on the “little projects,” identify the big vision and high-impact initiatives.
  7. Get “Okay” With Mistakes
  8. Adopt a Policy of Iterations – Don’t wait for something to be perfect before launching it.
  9. Delegate – Getting help and delegating tasks is critical to allowing you to get more done.
  10. Keep Things Fun

Are you a high performing women leader who might be standing in her own way and not seeing a professional or personal breakthrough? I’ve taken hundreds of clarity calls over the last couple years with women who have high potential, are high achieving, and looking for a breakthrough. You aren’t the only fierce woman entrepreneur who has something blocking their breakout result. As a coach, mentor and thought partner, one of the key things, as I do, is to reframe thought processes and perspectives so the indomitable women I coach make peace with the noise between their ears and accomplish what they aspire to do and be.

Do you envision taking your seat at the table, fast tracking into the CEO spot, double your sales or make an enormous difference people’s lives? Do you want to create breakout results? On today’s episode, I enthusiastically encourage you to stay in a place of action, so you move forward and step out of your own way by reframing your beliefs.

“We are as a group wealthy powerful and educated, so we have an immense opportunity, and if we are aware of it, we can use it for social good in 2017.”

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • I talk about office politics in our role as women leaders.
  • Why you need to get involved in office politics.
  • I tell you how the power players dip their toes into new areas and how they react to the unknown.
  • I share my interpretation of confidence as it relates to fierce feminine leaders.
  • You’ll hear my views on focusing on your ‘thing’ at the expense of other areas of business.
  • Why many women who leave the corporate world to become entrepreneurs never replace their corporate income.
  • I discuss what some high performing women struggle with.
  • I give you advice on privilege as I interpret it.

Top 5 Reframes for 2017:

  1. Reframe politics to diplomacy.
  2. Reframe confidence to courage.
  3. Reframe business to sales.
  4. Reframe clarity to next step.
  5. Reframe must get to get to.

Do you tend to put others before yourself? Do you shrink away from being powerful because you associate it with aggression or dominance which we consider to be masculine traits? Many of us want to step into our power, but we don’t want to have the negative connotations of manliness attributed to us, and we may see it as a burden and become invisible instead of reveling in our magical power. Today’s guest, Lynette Allen tells us that being a driving force in your home, community, and in your organization, is a characteristic that needs to be embraced and nurtured because we are fierce and ambitious leaders.

Lynnette is an international speaker, author, coach, trainer, wife, and mother and the founder of Her Invitation, a website dedicated to helping women keep their power rather than give it away.  She shows women how to be powerful and influential, so they don’t let their quiet command go to waste. Lynette helps women embrace their significance in their world and value their greatness and the talents they bring to every situation so they can be instrumental in creating harmony in the world.

Today Lynette shares her personal story, the story of how she came to be a coach who empowers women – helping them accept their brand of power, so they step into their confidence and become the ambitious women in business they aspire to be.

“We are hugely powerful and we control quite a lot of stuff in our family and our work so we really turn the wheels at home and at the workplace but we don’t see our own power.” – Lynette Allen

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • Lynette talks about her views of some women's views of other women’s power.
  • She reveals her thoughts on the differences between males and females from a coach’s perspective.
  • She talks about how gender biased language affects women in the workforce.
  • We discuss how male and female roles are perceived and the effects of sexism on men.
  • We talk about how women don’t understand their significance.
  • Lynette talks about how she coached men and saw a correlation between them and women.
  • She talks about a time in her life where she had lost her confidence.
  • She tells us about a fellow entrepreneur who helped her build up her business and bring her personal joy.
  • She shares the pride she feels in helping many women come into their own.
  • We hear about what Lynette is working on next.

Top 3 Success Factors:

  1. Getting support and being open to receive it.
  2. Feeling your way and trust your intuition.
  3. Have courage and be brave – know you can do whatever you envision for yourself.

Whether you are running a business or running a marathon, high-performance is a critical skill to have in order to “finish the race.” As many of my wonderful listeners already know, I am a huge fan of high-performing women, athletes, entrepreneurs, and business executives. However, throughout my coaching experience, I often see many women that have the potential to be high performers, but somehow fail to unlock that potential – leaving it on the table. Today, I share with you four critical psychological skills that all high-performers must have and master in order to achieve success in life, business, and sports.

Unless you’re living a high-performance lifestyle in business and life, you are leaving potential on the table.

My Challenge for You:

  • Think about what would be possible if you could unlock 15% more potential without creating more time in a day or upgrading your skills.
  • Think about what would be possible for humanity if everyone could unlock 15% more of their
  • Think about how the whirlwind of your life is affecting your ability to achieve your wildly important goals.

The 4 Critical Psychological Skills of High-Performers:

  1. Focus
  • Focus to work through the whirlwind.
  1. Visualization
  • Visualize the “end game” and what steps you need to take to achieve it.
  1. Setting Effective Goals
  • Drastically narrow your focus down. Set smaller goals to achieve the W.I.G.
  1. Dealing with Distractions
  • Learn how to say a powerful “no” to stay on track with your vision and goals.

When you unlock your capacity by 10, 15, 20 percent – think about what is going to be possible for your family, the people you love, and humanity as a whole.

Book Recommendation:

I highly recommend checking out Annette Verschuren’s new book, “Bet On Me,” an inspiring book on Annette’s philosophy on what it takes to be a highly successful leader.

Until next time…

Women are essential to affect change in order to lead our homes, businesses, our communities, and the world. We come from diverse backgrounds, and everyone’s story is unique, valuable, and helpful to us so we can turn our survival stories into success stories.

My guest today is Dr. Venus Opal Reese, and she shares her incredible story of being on the streets to who she is now - The Black Women Millionaires Mentor, an inspirational speaker, and the creator and CEO of Defy Impossible Inc. In today’s episode, Venus doesn’t hold back while she explains how you can benefit from your pain story while keeping your sense of self on your quest to become the best you can be as a fierce feminine business leader.

“I don’t think people buy your skills – I think they buy your energy.”

Dr. Venus Opal Reese

Do you get frustrated at how long things are taking? Do you think things should be much easier? As a coach, I notice impatience is normal among fierce feminine leaders, so rest assured you’re not alone.  Possessing and bringing a sense of urgency to your business is a positive step but it can go the opposite way where your impatience causes you to resist embracing a high level of performance.

Years ago, I had the opportunity to interview Stanford University psychologist Dr. Carol Dweck who is the author of the book Mindset which is like a bible to me in my coaching practice. Her book pinpoints two type of mindsets, fixed and growth, and how we use these attitudes to either move forward or keep us back from realizing our goals.

So, on today’s episode, I’ll talk about fixed and growth mindset so you understand what may be keeping you back from your goals. Our attitudes are not set in stone, and many intelligent and competitive women break out of their negative mindsets to achieve success no matter how long it takes.

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • I’ll tell you about what the fixed mindset does that may hold you back in your business or career pursuits.
  • When you’re in a growth mindset, you are open to learning, and there’s no stopping how far you can go to see success.
  • I’ll tell you about what happens when you focus on how long something will take you.
  • I address those who get discouraged by the length of time it takes to get to their goals.

My Challenge to You:

  • Get in the zone; you have to flip the switch so that you see that the length of time it takes to see success is a path to mastery and not something you’re doing wrong.
  • Focus on the ground you cover in your pursuit of achievement instead of focusing on how long it takes to get to your destination.

An interesting point was mentioned during my last episode while interviewing Vicki Saunders, the founder of SheEO. She said that women are not asking for help in their businesses – that many women feel they need to do everything on their own in order to be, or feel, successful and accomplished. In reality, though, it is incredibly hard to do everything on your own without asking for help and developing a team.

In this episode, I want to share some tips with you on five ways you can ask for help, and three ways you can ask in the right way.

5 Ways You Can Ask for Help:

  1. Ask for Introductions
  • An introduction is a powerful pre-framing technique in terms of positioning and allowing you to gain access to that person’s network.
  1. Ask People to Spread the Word Through Their Social Media Networks
  • Ninja Move Tip: When asking people to spread the word through their social media platforms, give them an image and some text they can use to promote.
  1. Ask for Advice
  • A wise woman once said, “When you ask for money, you get advice. When you ask for advice, you get money.”
  1. Have a Focus Group or Advisory Board
  2. Interview People

3 Tips on How To Ask for Help In the Right Way

  1. Be Mindful of a Person’s Time
  • Follow the 10-minute rule: “Hey, can we chat for about 10 minutes on the phone? I really need some advice.”
  1. Know What You Want
  • Having a clear picture of what you want and how it fits into your business’ “bigger picture” will help others help and collaborate with you easier and more efficiently.
  1. Have a Beginner’s Mindset
  • Maintain a balance between being open to information and closing down the information so you can implement.

“The most dangerous thing that can happen to a leader is that she begins to cut herself off from information” – Eleanor Beaton
