Many service-based businesses start with a freelance model. You sell a contract, provide the service, over and over again. And you can make decent money doing this, but at some point, you’re going to burn out or even go broke. The key to avoiding these outcomes is by changing your pricing model so you can increase your profit margin.
A good profit margin allows you to invest in new technologies, hire amazing people, and build up a cash reserve which will eliminate a ton of stress. Building up profit is really a tremendous gift you can give yourself. And, you have more control over it than you think.
When I work with service-based entrepreneurs who are ready to take their profits to the next level, I see them fall into a lot of the same pricing traps. They get stuck in their freelancer mindset and have difficulty switching to the mindset of a 7-figure CEO.
