You have a message to share with your people about who you are and what your business does. But, the idea of showing up on video to share that message paralyzes you. Stepping into the spotlight seems terrifying, and this fear prevents you from sharing your message.

As the CEO of your company, and especially if you’re a company of one, it’s very important to be a spokesperson for your organization and its mission. You might be scared of showing up and being judged, criticized, corrected, or maybe you just don’t like how you look on camera. These reasons for not being visible aren’t serving you and they aren’t helping you be the strong leader your company needs.

My guest today is an expert on showing up authentically and powerfully online and in front of the camera. Keri Murphy is my dear friend and the CEO and founder of Inspired Living. As an international speaker, media expert, and business mentor, she’s a master at showing entrepreneurs how to show up authentically on camera and how to leverage video in their branding.

In today’s episode, Keri and I discuss the incredible act of courage it is to show up authentically and to share your truth. Keri walks us through her experience with visibility and how she helps entrepreneurs work through their discomfort so they can be the strong, visible leaders their businesses need. From social media to how our comfort changes as we age, Keri and I cover it all in this episode and you do not want to miss it.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • Keri’s experience of getting comfortable with being seen.
  • How our comfort in showing up has evolved as we’ve aged.
  • The difference between hustling and unwavering commitment.
  • Why you need to be aware of comparison-itis when using social media.
  • The two types of influencers on social media and which one you want to be.
  • How the more comfortable you are showing up as yourself, the more your business will grow.

I have a question for you. With what your business is currently offering, are you striving to serve your audience or to impress your peers? Meeting your audience where they're at makes sense, right? So then why is it so hard to do?

I have seen it so many times. We get excited about the success of our business and we begin to overshoot our prospects, overwhelming the audience. Doing this impedes your ability to serve them and ultimately cripples your business growth.

The truth is that audience choice is a seven figure decision. You need to be careful when selecting your niche and exactly how you want to serve them. Once you make that decision, stick to it. Continue to examine and meet their needs as best you can.

In today’s episode, we talk all about the dangers of overshooting your audience and why it can be mistaken for a business strategy. I talk to you about the results that are possible if you commit to an audience and how you can gain cash, autonomy, and influence through that decision.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • What overshooting your audience looks like.
  • What the motivators for overshooting your audience are.
  • How overshooting your audience is a risk.
  • What the “professor complex” is.
  • Why we shouldn’t get sucked into the mentality of continuous transformation.
  • What happens when you don’t commit to a core audience.
  • What you get with a Jewel Business.
  • How impactful audience choice is.

Today, we are exploring disqualify selling. Disqualification is all about drawing clear boundaries around who your brand, company, and offerings are not for. When you do it right, you can catapult your brand to cult status, grow your revenue to heights you've never seen, and make the process of closing sales much more elegant and refined.

At its core, the power of disqualification is the energy of saying no. This complex business tactic requires you to clearly state to your marketplace not only who you are for but also who you are not serving. It is up to you to define your niche market and to make them your focal point.

Using this method isn’t just a matter of implementing it into your business processes. It’s a mindset change. The disqualification method requires you to have an abundance mindset since it, theoretically, restricts your audience. By taking this action, you cultivate immense loyalty from your people.

I invite you to really consider who you’re spending your marketing dollars focusing on and if those are the people you truly want to serve. Find out how disqualify selling works, why you need to consider it, and how to start implementing it in your business today. If you’re serious about refining your niche and growing your revenue, then this is a method you have to check out.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • What disqualify selling is.
  • The ways you can use disqualification selling.
  • How disqualification increases sales and revenue.
  • How customer mentality changes when you exclude instead of making a product “for everyone.”
  • How to implement disqualify selling.
  • Why it is useful for people to self-deselect before they ever reach out to you.
  • How to get rid of pricing objections using disqualification selling.

I have been on a mission lately to demonstrate the value and methodology behind group programs as a business instead of running yourself ragged with one-on-one coaching. While each of these can have a place in your business, it is highly valuable to dig into group programs so that you can avoid entrepreneurial overwhelm.

I want to give you a great example of this today by highlighting an interview and a case study that demonstrates the effectiveness of group programs. I'm doing so with the incredible Stacy Mayer, who has found massive success implementing group programs over the last six months.

Stacy has always been a strong advocate for women and their place in the world of high-power executives. She got her start by making her voice heard in New York, although not quite the way you would imagine. She led an improv company in Times Square while moonlighting at a hedge fund, steadily making the transition into running her own successful coaching business.

I want you to learn from Stacy’s process and her life path as a case study for how you might implement group programs into your own business. On top of that, I’m challenging you not only to go check Stacy out for yourself, but to bring at least one other woman along with you that wants a promotion into a senior leadership role.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • Who Stacy Mayer is and how she owns her career.
  • Why messaging is such an essential part of your business development.
  • The power of repetition personally and professionally.
  • How deep you have to go to really niche down.
  • How to work past the imposter syndrome and grow.
  • Why saying “no” is essential to entrepreneurial leadership success.
  • Why your company doesn’t control your career.

One of the most powerful questions you can ask yourself about your business is what is most likely to hold me back from achieving my goals this year? This question might not sound like a very positive outlook, but hear me out. Getting clear on the most significant barriers to your growth is supremely powerful.

For almost any entrepreneur and business, the single biggest obstacle you will face is typically overwhelm. We try to branch out into too many areas, provide too many services, or serve too many audiences. It saps our time and energy and rids us of the ability to ready ourselves for future opportunities.

In this podcast, I explore the solution to entrepreneurial overwhelm. I look at how Steve Jobs came back into Apple two months before it declared bankruptcy and pulled it back from the brink. By niching down, he saved a currently multi-trillion dollar business.

Doing less to grow more requires you to retrain your mind. This goes against the “hustle and grind” mentality so many of us grew up with. Niching down is one of the most courageous things you can do as a leader and it's something you definitely won't regret. Today, we are looking at how to develop a strategy to help you niche down so you can grab future opportunities.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • What entrepreneurial overwhelm is.
  • How to achieve focus in your business.
  • What strategy is and why it is so frequently misunderstood.
  • How Steve Jobs and Apple demonstrate the value of niching down.
  • Why excess capacity is entrepreneurial gold.
  • How niching down can lead to more of everything.

Building an email list isn’t complex, it’s actually quite simple. But when legions of hyper-activated bro-marketers are attempting to sell you secrets for rapid list growth, it’s easy to overlook the power of a carefully built, highly qualified list of people who love you and your work.

There are three core strategies that will allow you to craft that highly-qualified list, and surprise surprise, they take time. Too often we see the tail end of many years of consistent, hard work and mistake it for rapid growth. Slow, consistent growth is the name of the game.

Whether you use paid advertising to grow your email list or rely on organic traffic, you need to commit. This is the problem I see so many entrepreneurs having when they feel stuck with their list building. But don’t worry, in this episode I show you exactly how to get unstuck and start growing a lucrative list.

Today on the podcast, I share the three steps you need to take to build a highly engaged, returning, qualified email list. I reveal what an anchor platform is, how to choose one, and then how to double-down on its list generating potential. What I’m sharing today won’t get you a massive list by next week. But it will show you how to grow your list using the compound effect while also saving you time and energy.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • How Oprah built her following with an anchor platform.
  • Why people struggle with building their list.
  • How to choose an anchor platform that works for you.
  • What you need to know to decide your frequency.
  • How to move people off the platform and onto your list.
  • What the compound effect is and how it skyrockets your growth.

If you want to scale your business so you can generate revenue without working 24/7, learning how to integrate team members who do what you do is critical. But how do you convince your clients to work with those team members when they come to your company to work with you?

Last week we talked about scaling your business through group programs, and today we’re continuing the conversation by talking about scaling your business through team. This isn’t about operational team members who are also very important; it’s about team members who do what you do.

When you’re the only one your clients trust to deliver their services, not only do you stunt your company's growth, but you put yourself on the fast track to burnout. No matter how much you love providing 1:1 service yourself, it’s not sustainable.

This week, I explore 3 common mistakes I see CEOs making that deter their clients from wanting to work with other team members. When you get clear on these mistakes and how you might be making them, you can start the journey of growth required to effectively elevate your team members in the eyes of your clients. I walk you through some tactical changes you can start making to get on the path to 7-figure growth.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

When Whitney Wolfe Herd left Tinder (after suing them for sexual harassment), she knew she had the skills, experience, and drive to building something great. She went on to create Bumble and soon, at the age of 31, became the youngest self-made female billionaire in history.

I believe that success leaves clues. So I dissected her story to bring out the single most lucrative, most valuable nugget to help you unlock your next level of business growth no matter your starting point.

Queens of business know that we are not actually building a business, we are building a world. And this mindset is so critical when it comes to creating a Jewel Business, one that uses the 30-30-30 concept we talked about last week to garner more CIA.

We coach our clients on developing this mindset so they can stop waiting for permission and finally step up and lead. Do you want to be a minion in someone else’s world or the queen of your own domain?

Shifting into this mindset is the first step to building a jewel business. Before we talk about any of the tactical milestones you want to hit, we need to discuss the way you think about yourself, your service, and what you want.

In today's episode, I walk you through why women can sometimes struggle to step into leadership because of our conditioning and how you can rework your mindset to overcome that. I invite you to get into this energy with me, set your boundaries, and create the laws in your world. I'll also show you some of the ways we do this in my business and how other successful companies grow their worlds. Remember, you aren’t meant to be a lady in waiting; you're a queen.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • What a jewel business is and the 30-30-30 concept.
  • The most important mindset shift you can make as an entrepreneur.
  • How many women are conditioned to think and behave.
  • The difference between running a business and running a world.
  • Some examples of successful companies building worlds (including mine).

Mar 2, 2021

After doing thousands of interviews with women entrepreneurs around the world and over a decade of research, I've developed a model unlike anything else out there: the Jewel Business Model. This model attempts to bring a harmonious answer to the question, what do we as women entrepreneurs really want?

Most business models leave something to be desired for women. They focus solely on profitability and economic growth, and leave out our desire to make an impact or create freedom in our schedules. Most balance sheets ignore a big part of what success means to us.

I love the Jewel Business Model because it’s for ambitious women who want to create businesses that grow through assets, not the founder's hustle. It's about envisioning your entrepreneurial goals without getting perfectionistic about them. Entrepreneurs who use this model, like many of my clients, achieve total life success.

In this week's episode, I lay out a very unique, effective, and all-encompassing model for women entrepreneurs to use in their businesses. If you want more cash, autonomy, and influence, you need the tools found in the Jewel Business Model. I share what a jewel business is, what it is not, and how women are championing the conversation around total life success with this model.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • What I learned from thousands of interviews and consults with women entrepreneurs.
  • What total life success is and why women want it.
  • Why I think it's degrading to be labeled a "lifestyle business."
  • What a jewel business is and why this model is so compelling to women entrepreneurs.
  • The differences between a star business and a jewel business.
  • How impossible goals can be a disservice to your business.

Your time is the most precious asset you have, but the way you’re managing it may actually be making you squander your most precious resource. When you stop trying to manage your time and instead adopt the tools I’m sharing with you today, you won’t have to manage your time because you’ll have plenty of it.

Now, you may be shocked to hear that I’m not going to be teaching you how to “manage” your time. You read that right. I don’t believe in time management because I’ve found a way to create more CIA through my calendar without it.

We’re diving into part two of my social selling series, this time with a brilliant client of mine, Eva Jannotta. Eva has developed a unique method of social selling that has been so successful at increasing her cash, autonomy and influence; I just knew I had to have her on to share it with all of you.

Eva and I met when she attended a retreat I was hosting, and since then we’ve worked together in different capacities. A woman after my own heart, Eva is a confident contrarian committed to simplicity. She’s the founder of Simply Put Strategies which works to advance thought leadership among women.

Social selling doesn’t just include buying ads and posting on Instagram. In fact, Eva’s method doesn’t include either. She hosts weekly roundtables where invitees get introduced to new women and dive deep into connection, thought leadership, and business support.

In today’s podcast, Eva and I talk about building connections online and going deep with our networks, not just wide. Eva shares what led her to start hosting these roundtables and how they work so that you can take inspiration from them and create your own unique social selling method. We also introduce you to the idea of social media monogamy and why doing the thing your own damn way is always the best way.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • What social media monogamy is and how Eva decided it was right for her.
  • How to choose just one social media platform for your business.
  • How Eva uses LinkedIn to go deep with her network.
  • What the roundtables Eva hosts are all about.
  • How the women attending the roundtables have benefited.
  • The impact hosting roundtables has had on Eva personally and in her business.

Last week, I dove into the core of what we teach in our business accelerator program: PPAM. The Premium Priced Ascension Model is an ecosystem that enables you to skyrocket your CIA and your freedom. Today, we’re expanding on the information we shared in part one to give you an even better idea of how to build a successful service-based business.

When you start creating your PPAM business, there are three phases that each have their own milestones and tasks. Each phase builds off the last, so it’s important to do this work thoroughly and in order.

As your business grows, so should your cash, influence, and autonomy. With the PPAM model, that is the priority. We guide you every step of the way so that you can grow a business that allows you to make money and make an impact while enjoying plenty of free time.

In today’s podcast, I’m taking the PPAM model a step further by explaining the three phases you go through to build a PPAM business. I’m walking you through the milestones of each phase and the specific tasks you need to complete to move onto the next phase. It might seem like a lot of information, but I really want to make sure you understand how taking your service-based businesses to 7 figures is completely possible and available to you.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • What the three phases of building a PPAM business are.
  • The four foundational elements you need to nail in order to grow.
  • The milestones you aim to achieve in each phase.
  • How our Business Accelerator Program helps you build a PPAM business.

Before I had this coaching business, I had a very successful consulting business for over 10 years. It was great, but I eventually reached a point where I needed to shift mindsets, to stop doing the work, and start building an ecosystem.

So many women CEOs are at the same spot I was before I made the change. You know that if you get sick or don’t show up, your business doesn’t make money. You have no CIA (cash, influence, and autonomy) and you’re spending 25 hours a week just delivering on what you sold.

Today, I’m introducing you to the business structure we recommend in our business accelerator, PPAM. If you want to have more open time, more CIA, and you want to make a bigger impact, then PPAM is the way to go. Using this model will help you achieve 7 figure status with more time for everything.

In today’s episode, part one of a two-part series, I unveil the PPAM model, what it is, how it works, and why it’s so dang effective. This is the heart of what we teach in the business accelerator, so I know giving you this behind-the-scenes peak is going to be super helpful. You’ll learn why you need to create an ecosystem, how PPAM delivers CIA, and how you can lay the foundation for this structure today.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • Why I knew it was time to start a new business.
  • What the Premium Priced Ascension Model is.
  • Why it’s important to have at least 30% open time in your schedule.
  • The steps to building your PPAM business.
  • The milestones that signify your PPAM is on the right track.
  • The 3 criteria the PPAM fulfills.

The book industry is worth over 25 billion dollars with the average person reading 12 books per year. The average CEO? 60 books per year. With that clear-cut evidence, how is it possible that one of my clients was told “people don’t read anymore”?

We are living in an age where any idiot with an opinion can share it on the internet whether it is fact-based or not. Critical thinking and discernment have gone out the window for some, which is why I’m taking a stand and writing a love letter to critical thinking.

As you scale and grow your business, critical thinking is ridiculously important. So important that without it, you could end up with a business that you don’t even want or one that doesn’t reflect your values.

Today on the podcast, I’m breaking down why “people don’t read anymore” is completely false and how other idiotic statements need a dose of discernment before you believe them. I’m urging you to trust your instincts and do your research and share why we, women CEOs, must bring this level of thinking to our work because our businesses and the world clearly need it.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • Why the statement “people don’t read anymore” is completely idiotic.
  • The importance and power of critical thinking.
  • Why CEOs specifically depend on reading for context and situational awareness.
  • How to not let well-intentioned yet misguided advice sway you from doing you.

Contrary to popular belief, growing a business is not the be-all-end-all it’s cracked up to be. Now, scaling a business, that’s a whole other story. Growth and scale are not the same thing, and using them interchangeably only creates stress and confusion.

On a basic level, scaling sets you free and growth creates more problems. I don’t know what your mission here on earth is, but I know you have one. And I know it isn’t to make more revenue so you can have more headaches. But that’s what focusing on growth will get you.

When I work with women entrepreneurs, the one thing we all have in common is a greater mission. Money is great, but we’re here for more. You’re here to scale so that you can make a greater impact, change lives, change your industry, and direct your abundance into causes you care about.

Today on the podcast, I’m diving into why we’ve got to stop using “scale” and “growth” interchangeably and how to decide which one you’ve been working towards. I’m sharing the 3 principles of scale so you can get more cash, more influence, and more autonomy, while also fulfilling your mission. I’m telling you exactly how to stop overworking yourself, simplify your systems, and scale with confidence.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • Why it drives me crazy when people use these terms interchangeably.
  • The differences between scale and growth.
  • The 3 things that every female entrepreneur I’ve ever met has wanted.
  • What traditional growth models are about and why they need to evolve.
  • The 3 principles of scale.
  • Why scale gets you closer to fulfilling your mission than growth does.

The research is in: male entrepreneurs tend to be much more confident in themselves as entrepreneurs than women do. Shocking, right? The confidence gap for women entrepreneurs is something I see every day in my work and so today I’m diving into what we can do about it.

When I talk about confidence, I’m not talking about general confidence or confidence in the mirror. I’m talking about business building, empire growing, and company leading confidence.

I know that each of you has this confidence inside, but for various reasons, you censor and discredit yourself. Women certainly have unique obstacles to face in business, but myself and many of my clients are living proof that you can overcome them.

Today on the podcast, I’m diving into why there’s a confidence gap for women entrepreneurs and what you can do to overcome it. If you want to grow your company, you need a specific type of confidence that doesn’t come with more time or experience. I’m showing you where it comes from and how to start cultivating it right now. Don’t let another year go by where you aren’t leaning into your power. Be the fabulous, confident CEO I know you can be.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • What the research says about the confidence gap for women entrepreneurs.
  • What the number one trait of my most successful clients is.
  • Why I’m not just talking about general confidence.
  • The 2 buckets of work to focus on to improve your confidence.

Dec 29, 2020

We’ve made it to the end of the mega year that is 2020 and many of you are thinking about how to make 2021 a growth year. You want to make it a departure, a powerful year, a fun year. Well, the one way to do that is by reducing complexity.

Complexity creeps into your life and business in very subtly, sneaky ways. Before you know it, an onboarding process that could be done in 13 steps suddenly takes over 100. That’s what happened to me until I learned how to reduce complexity.

You won’t make 2021 your biggest growth year by going faster and doing more. That frenetic, unfocused energy just amplifies inefficiency and allows complexity to move in. The thing you need to do requires patience and deliberation.

Today on the podcast, I expose the master of business complexity, scarcity mindset, for what it is and delve into why so many smart businesswomen fall into this trap. Operating from a place of lack, fear, and not enough makes your business processes more complex. If you want to really streamline your processes and create a clear path to growth, you must reduce complexity. And in this episode, I show you exactly how to do that.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • How I cut out 87% of the complexity in my onboarding process.
  • Why scaling your business also includes scaling the complexity.
  • Why it has to be you, the CEO, who makes the cuts.
  • What contributes to business complexity in the first place.
  • How the opposite of scarcity isn’t abundance.
  • The importance of honoring where you’re at and being patient with yourself.

Finding and cultivating relationships with profitable business partners is one of the most lucrative activities you can do in your business. And quite frankly, it's one of the best rewards. So why is it that so many women waste their time with terrible partnerships?

When I see clients waste time on partnerships that aren’t fun, productive or profitable, I know what’s likely going on. Sometimes, we get lulled into partnerships not because they’re strategic, but because we don’t have the confidence to achieve the goal on our own.

My guest today, Ebere Akadiri, is an expert at cultivating strategic partnerships and creating fun and effective collaborations. Not only has she run multiple successful businesses, but she has a similar goal to me, helping more female entrepreneurs become successful. This is one of the many reasons we work so well together.

Today on the podcast, I’m interviewing Ebere on her journey to entrepreneurship and her advice for other women entrepreneurs looking for strategic partnerships. Collaboration is one of the cornerstones of female micro-economies, and women like Ebere can teach us all a thing or two about finding these partnerships and nurturing them so everyone succeeds.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • Why we sometimes join partnerships that aren’t successful.
  • How leveraging partnerships can help you grow your brand.
  • Ebere’s experience as an entrepreneur.
  • How to maintain business continuity alongside changes in your family.
  • How Ebere created the Rise and Lead Conference and found partners.
  • The most important ingredients in a successful partnership.

Dec 15, 2020

While the hoards have been busy wishing away 2020, arguing over the science of masks and the legitimacy of shutdowns, something truly astounding has been happening before our very eyes. People are saving.

Amidst the upheaval caused by COVID-19, the decline of the airline industry and the hotel and hospitality industries, from an economic perspective, what has resulted is fascinating. Households, individuals, and companies have been putting away cash. Not for a rainy day, but for when they can trust the future again.

When that trust returns and we have a renewed confidence, I believe there will be a “Pent Up Cash” Extravaganza. And we need to be prepared for it. Is your business prepared for when people start buying again? Are you even thinking about that time?

In today’s episode, I share a mini economics lesson that all business owners need to understand right now. Consumers will spend again, and the way you position yourself now matters. I’m sharing how you can prepare for the coming “Pent Up Cash” Extravaganza and ensure your business is positioned well to receive it. It’s true that fortune favors the bold, but it also favors the prepared.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • Why consumers haven’t been spending as much during the pandemic.
  • A mini economics lesson on the personal savings rate.
  • The reasons why the savings rate increased.
  • Why confidence in the future is a critical gauge of consumer spending.
  • How vaccines affect the economy and our cash savings.
  • How to position yourself for growth in 2021.
