On the Fierce Feminine Leadership podcast, we often talk about ways to step into and claim your power. Claiming your power is incredibly important to become successful in your business or organization, but what if you’re ready to pivot from the corporate world into the entrepreneurial world? What do you do if your professional history is filled with a lot of experience across multiple industries or your resume shows several different – and unrelated – skillsets? How do you make the pivot? Today’s guest, Pamela Slim, is an award-winning author, speaker, and entrepreneur and innovative thinker with a passion for helping people make sense of their professional background, pivot from the corporate world into the entrepreneurial one, and tell their story in a way that makes sense to potential clients and customers.

Pamela is the founder of K’é, a small business incubator space located in Mesa, Arizona and the former director of training and development at Barclay’s Global Investors. In the first 10 years of business, she worked as a consultant to many large companies including Hewitt Packard and Charles Schwab before pivoting her focus on helping small businesses launch and grow. She has been quoted in numerous publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Forbes, and The Entrepreneur.

Today, she shares her story, insight, and tips on why it is critical for small business entrepreneurs to identify and claim their body of work.

“If you don’t view yourself as the hero of your own story, how will you tell a credible story to someone else?” Pamela Slim

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • Who is Pamela Slim and why is she so passionate about helping small business entrepreneurs?
  • How did she build a significant online presence?

As a coach, I have had the opportunity to work with many great women leaders in business. The most exciting part about working with these highly skilled, motivated, thought-leading women is listening to their dreams, what is possible for them, their desires, and what they want to build. But, where there is sunshine – rain clouds sometimes follow. And in my career, the rain clouds come when we get down to their fears – what they are afraid of and is preventing them from accomplishing their goals.

Most of us are dealing with the same fears.

Today, we’re going to talk about one of the biggest fears disrupting the success of many fierce feminine leaders – the fear of giving yourself permission to go for what you want.

The only thing standing between the life you dream about and the life you have is an invisible gate you need to pass through. Open the gate.

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • The number one fear preventing high-potential women in business is the fear of giving themselves permission to go for their dreams.
  • Women often are not nearly as confused as they think they are.
  • You may feel like you know what you want, but are unsure of whether it is practical, realistic, or achievable. You may feel crazy for wanting what you want – but you’re not!
  • The keys to unlocking opportunity’s gate is in your pocket. Give yourself permission to walk through it.

My Challenge for You:

You walked down the road on your own two feet. You arrived at the gate and saw the life on the other side. You created the vision. Give yourself permission to walk through the gate.

Welcome back, fierce tribe! On Friday, we discussed how you can work less and earn more through negotiating what you want in a warm and firm way. Today, I am joined by Knightsbridge Robertson Surette’s partner and my dear friend April Howe. April has 15 years of consulting and coaching experience, has played an instrumental role in the development of Knightsbridge Robertson Surette’s career transition and HR consulting practice, and works as an instructor in various business schools. She serves on the board of several organizations, including the one that we serve together – The Black Business Initiative – which aids in fostering a dynamic black presence within the business community.

She joins me on the show to discuss how you can claim and hold your power at the big tables and shares her interesting stories about how she learned to step into her power and negotiate for what she wants. She also shares her interesting insight on female diversity in leadership roles and offers powerful tips and advice that you can use to claim your power at the negotiation tables.

You have two choices. To show up like you belong there, or show up like you don’t.

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • April shares her diverse background and how she got started in her industry.
  • She explains how losing her job lead her to her current line of work.
  • She talks about what she does now to help organizations through the transitioning period of a humane termination processes.
  • She shares her opinion on whether the cliché “when one door closes, another one opens” is true for people transitioning from corporate careers into entrepreneurship.
  • We talk about best practices for entrepreneurs needing to downsize their business.
  • Research shows that inauthenticity is mentally exhausting and can impair a person’s cognitive function.
  • She explains why she is a huge advocate for women entrepreneurs to find a mentor.
  • She offers tips on preparing for contract negotiations.
  • We talk about what diverse women can do to position themselves as elite female leaders.

Tips for Owning Your Power During a Negotiation:

  • Stop asking yourself “if I can” and start asking “how can I.”
  • Get your head into the “I belong here” space.
  • Believe your authenticity is

Today, fierce ones, I’m talking about money. I’m talking about freedom. I’m talking about money and freedom and how money can create more freedom for you beyond merely unknotting time constraints. Money has a way of freeing emotional burdens. What emotional burdens? Money helps you spend more quality time with the people you love. Money helps you achieve your dreams – perhaps you’ve always wanted to go to Hawaii. Money helps you find financial, and emotional, freedom.

That’s why on today’s episode, I want to talk to you about how to work less and earn more.

Let’s dive in!

When we own our worth, claim our value, and hold our power in negotiations, profound things can happen.

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • Women often work more and earn less because we feel we have to prove our value. We feel we aren’t entitled to ask for more money.
  • Research shows that when it comes to money and time – women don’t negotiate.
  • Too many women put off the internal work we need to do to communicate and negotiate for more money.
  • Women are powerful negotiators – with themselves.

Do you do any of the following?

  • Convince yourself that you need to prove your worth before asking for more money.
  • Tell yourself that you need to be better, achieve more, or that you are lacking experience or skills to ask for more money.
  • Tell yourself that efforts are rewarded.

Two Powerful Negotiating Rules to Always Follow:

  1. Remind yourself that you are 100% enough exactly the way you are.
  2. Stop negotiating with yourself. Now.

My Challenge to You:

  • Completely absorb the two rules of negotiating.
  • Tell yourself “I am enough!”
  • Pay attention to when you are negotiating with yourself.
  • Ask for what you want.

Are you ready to be more courageous, focused and FIERCE this Fall?

Do you plan out your work week? Do you take the time to sit down and plan out your activities for each day of the week, or do you fly by the seat of your pants, keeping a mental check list or buying enough Post-It Notes that you should really consider taking up stock in the company?

I’m frequently asked about what my weekly schedule looks like. As many of you wonderfully fierce ladies know, I have two kids, a husband, some pets to take care of as well as my own health to take care of and a business to run. We drop three podcast episodes each and every week, have a full roster of clients, and I run group coaching programs. Plus, I frequently speak and present at events all over the world. We definitely have a lot going on!

Today I want to share with you what I do to keep it all together – keep it all straight in my mind. Sometimes it can be incredibly powerful and insightful to have the opportunity to peek behind the curtain of other people’s business and schedules – to see what the “pros” are doing to keep everything on track without sacrificing their health or free time.

So, grab a cup of coffee, my fierce ones. Prop your feet up and get comfortable as we dive into how I schedule my busy week, and how you can do the same!

If you are a business owner, you have a lot of hats to wear! It is critical that you wear them all.

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • A breakdown of my day-to-day home life routine consists of from about 5 a.m.
  • How I schedule my week to include every aspect of being a CEO of a company, leading team members, handling sales and marketing, as well as fulfillment and administrative tasks.

My Weekly Schedule:

  • On Mondays – Mondays are entirely dedicated to my leadership role within my organization. This is when we have our weekly team meetings, team trainings, and set targets and goals for the week based on our monthly goal plans.
  • On Tuesdays – I typically spend about a day to a day and a half taking care of sales tasks.
  • On Wednesdays – Wednesdays are my marketing days. It’s when I look at our “Big Picture Marketing Strategy” and start executing different things from that plan.
  • Thursdays and Fridays – These are my fulfillment days. This is when I am coaching my clients and leading group coaching programs. This is when me and my team are fulfilling the work our wonderful clients have hired us to do!
  • I also spend about half a day throughout the week taking care of administrative tasks – getting with our accounting team, etc.

One of the biggest career-limiting factors affecting women in business and in the workplace is gender bias – whether done consciously or unconsciously. And although times have changed over the last several decades, the types of gender bias situations that women often face is now much more insidious and harder to spot.

Today on the show, I’m chatting with gender bias experts Andie Kramer and Al Harris. Andie and Al are adjunct professors at North Western University School of Law, both experts in their respective fields of law, as well as experts in communication techniques women can use to overcome gender bias.

Andie is a partner in the international law firm McDermott, Will, and Emory where she heads the firm’s products, training, and derivatives group. She is a nationally recognized authority on gender communications, has mentored thousands of women on the subject, as well as written several articles on the topic of gender bias. She has co-authored the article What You Need To Know About Negotiating Compensation for the American Bar Association’s Guide and she is the co-founder of the organization Women’s Leadership & Mentoring Alliance where she currently serves as the organization’s Chair of the Board. Andie was named one of the 50 most influential women lawyers in America by the National Law Journal, has received the prestigious Gender Diversity Lawyer of 2014 Award from Chambers USA, and she is the Chair Amerida for the Chicago Foundation for Women

Al is the founding partner of the Chicago law firm Angaretti and Harris, which is now part of Nixon Peabody, LLC. While with Angaretti and Harris, he was the firm’s managing partner numerous times, has served on their executive and compensation committee as a member, and was the Head of Corporate and Securities Practice Group. Currently, in addition to being an adjunct professor at North Western University of Law, Al sits on the Board of Directors of a billion-dollar technology corporation and has served as a mentor, coach, and counselor to many successful women in business.

They join us today to share their thoughts and insights into how women can use various communication techniques and strategies to overcome gender biasness in the workplace, to enable them to be the shining star we all know they can be.

“If you can’t get acknowledge, it is much better to be seen as strong and forceful than weak, timid, and modest.” – Al Harris

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • What inspired them to take a stand against gender bias.
  • How women “buy-into” gender stereotypes when it comes to presenting themselves for compensation and promotion purposes.
  • What are some gender stereotypes many women buy into?
  • What subtle gender stereotypes may often be overlooked in the workplace and how can it limit a woman’s career?
  • How can women effectively manage home and work life integration.
  • How domestic responsibilities divided evenly between spouses or significant others can positively impact both professional careers.
  • What do women in powerful career positions all have in common that the rest of the female leadership population can learn from?
  • What is the “Goldilocks Dilemma”
  • Al and Andie’s thoughts on the idea of “fixing the women” versus “system reform.”

Practical Strategies & Tips for Women to Break Through Gender Bias at Work:

  • Maintain a strong posture – body language.
  • Stand up while talking to command attention.
  • Claim your fair share of space.
  • Claim your ideas.
  • Claim your ability to speak.
  • Support other women in meetings.
  • Stand your ground and stick up for yourself.

Al and Andie’s Powerful Advice for Women in Business:

  • Remember the Goldilocks Dilemma.
  • Recognize you can’t change who you are, but you can’t be either too soft or too hard. Find a way to reach into parts of yourself that will be most effective in the situation you are in to get it just right.
  • Likability and perfection is overrated. Reach for the stars, even if it means you land on your butt.

Not long ago, as I was watching T.V., I saw a cartoon of a tiny little caterpillar that was transforming into a beautiful butterfly. As the butterfly emerged from its cocoon and looked around at his caterpillar friends, he noticed the look on their faces – the look of “oh.. you’ve changed.”

The other little caterpillars were jealous of the butterfly’s beauty.

As I watched this cartoon, I began to remember one of the most powerful lessons I learned from Oprah Winfrey:

“People will support you until you exceed their expectations of you.”

Oprah was right. People you know – and even those you don’t – will tend to support your efforts, be your best cheerleader, until they realize that you have exceeded all of their expectations; until you become truly successful.

That’s when jealousy sets in.

Today on the show, I want to share a story with you – one that I have personally been through and now realize that – Oprah was right.

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • One of the fundamental fears women have is fear of rejection – that someone will “boot us out” of the tribe.
  • Fear of success is far more powerful than fear of failure
  • You have to give yourself permission to shine as brightly as you can so that you can give true support to those around you.
  • Some people may feel threatened by your power and success. Some friendships and relationships may be lost along the way. But there’s a huge tribe of fierce, powerful leaders waiting, with open arms, to help you and cheer you on every step of the way!

My Challenge to You:

  • Give yourself permission to shine as brightly as you want to.
  • Allow yourself to feel truly successful; truly powerful.
  • Ignore the jealousy, embrace the support.

I recently shared the stage with one of the most brilliant, inspirational women leadership entrepreneurs, Dr. Monikah Ogando. Dr. Ogando and I shared the stage at the Global Wealth Leaders Live convention in Atlanta, GA, and I was so impressed and inspired by her thoughts, ideas, and presence – I just had to ask her to talk to my fiercely feminine leader tribe.

Dr. Monikah Ogando is the CEO of the firm CEOMastery, an organization dedicated to helping organizational leaders, solopreneurs, and consultants leverage their assets and create explosive growth. On today’s show, she shares her story, her insight, into what she’s currently seeing in the women in business industry, where she believes it is headed, and what traits women are bringing to the tables today that are helping to change the world of work and business. She shares her powerful tips, strategies, and advice for women thought-leaders and female leaders within organizations to help them step into their power, realize their potential, and overcome imposter syndrome in order to pave the path to a successful career or business.

“The journey to entrepreneurship and leadership is one of reinvention. Just because you think you’ve hit rock bottom, it doesn’t mean it’s the final call.” – Dr. Monikah Ogando

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • Monikah shares her incredible story of how she made one bold move early in her career with a company by not signing an intellectual property agreement form which resulted in helping her launch her successful career.
  • Her top three success strategies that got her on the Inc. 500 list – with only two full-time employees.
  • Three questions she always asks herself after every event, task, or business project.
  • Why it is important to be ruthlessly, brutally honest with yourself.
  • Why you should quantify your value to your client’s bottom line and how doing so can impact your success.

Tunnel-vision. It is one of the biggest obstacles many successful women in business face. And, not just women – men also become so highly focused on their niche, industry, or job function that they are unable to see the value in other people’s insight.

The small plant-based nutritional supplement product company grew rapidly and in 2015, Charles sold the company to White Wave Foods for a cool $550-million dollars. Shortly after selling his company, he decided to give the Simon Frazier University it’s largest gift ever - $10-million to found the Charles Chang Institute for Entrepreneurship. The institute provides training for students of all disciplines, not only in business, so they can learn more about and receive a certification in innovation and entrepreneurship. He is also the founder of Lyra Growth Partners, a company that provides capital and coaching services to emerging consumer brands that are looking to create explosive growth in the marketplace.

Charles joins me on the show to share his insight, wisdom, experience, and advice with my Fierce Feminine Tribe and share his strategies of success that has helped him quickly and successfully grow his business.

“If we have the ability, we should also have the responsibility.” – Charles Chang

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • Charles explains how he got started as an entrepreneur.
  • He explains how he created Vega.
  • He explains what he feels were his top, core skills in growing his company.
  • He talks about the challenges he faced financially while growing the company from the ground up in its early stages.
  • He tells us how long it took him from self-investing in the business to a period of where it became profitable.
  • He talks about his strategies and whether they evolved over time or were based on “trial and error.”
  • He explains how he was able to find or create a work/life balance that worked for him and his family.
  • He explains why he decided to help other entrepreneurial-minded individuals and why doing so was significantly important to him.
  • He talks about what Lyra Growth Partners is and how he helps other entrepreneurs.

Charles’ Powerful Advice for FFL Entrepreneurs & Intra-preneurs:

  • Personal accountability
  • Set goals like you mean it and really go after them
  • Internalize – look for internal reinforcement instead of external.

Do you ever notice yourself forsaking your personal health and happiness in order to please other people? Perhaps you go into work on a day that you’re not feeling well. Thousands of smart, professional, fierce feminine leaders simply grit their teeth through personal discomfort, illnesses, anxiety, depression, and stress under the assumption that they need to in order to be successful in their job, career, or business.

Ladies, it’s time to follow the lead set by the successful actress and music artist, Selena Gomez. Recently, Selena decided to make a bold decision to cancel a series of concerts, essentially clearing her schedule for the rest of the year, so that she can focus on her health and happiness.

Selena is at the top of her game, but she cleared her calendar due to being diagnosed with Lupus and the associated psychological affects – depression, anxiety, and severe stress. In a recent media statement, she said:

“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and I decided that the best way for it is to take time off. I know that by sharing this, I hope it will encourage others to address their own issues.”

Despite the negative media attention this has caused and the angry fans this has riled up, I applaud Selena for making such a bold decision.

So, what can we learn from Selena Gomez and how can we develop the courage to be equally bold in our business and career?

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • Research shows that women experience significantly higher levels of workplace stress than men.
  • Harvard Business Review Research published a study on “stereotype threat” – defining it as occurring when a woman is aware of the stereotype that women perform poorly compared to men at given tasks. As a result, she fails to perform up to her ability.
  • Simply knowing about a stereotype threat can cause a woman to become subconsciously apprehensive about confirming the stereotype – leading to a reduction in cognitive ability, impaired concentration, and increased stress and anxiety.

My Challenge to You:

  • Spend time noticing when and where you forsake your health and happiness out of a desire to please other people and be more successful.
  • Think about whether you need to make a bold move in your life or career.
  • Be inspired by the actions of Selena Gomez

Have you ever wondered: how can we create a better world if fear and doubt constantly creep up on us? How can we create businesses that are solid enough to really get our message out into the world and truly make a meaningful impact in the world?

Last week, I attended a Google Hangout with several other thought leaders. These people are powerhouse individuals that will be speaking at the Global Wealth Leaders Conference on September 9th, along with myself. One of the speakers brought a powerful message to the Hangout, talking about how fear and doubt can repeatedly sabotage our best intentions.

I work with countless fierce feminine leaders every year and one of the patterns I’ve noticed throughout my career is that these beautiful, intelligent, successful women often let their fears and self-doubt get in the way of executing their amazing ideas. So, today, I want to share with you a helpful tool I use and you can begin using to help you get over your fear and self-doubt.

Your fear is the most boring thing about you. Your creativity, ideas, and skills – now we’re talking!

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • Fear and doubt are like weeds. They crop up everywhere.
  • When you nurture the fear and doubt, you let the boring trump the fabulous.
  • Nurture your seeds.
  • In order to really deal with fear and self-doubt in the moment, engage in a pattern interrupt.
  • It’s not about banishing fear and self-doubt. It’s about recognizing it and dealing with it like a pro.

What Are Your Seeds?

  • Your Skills
  • Your Creativity
  • Your Ideas
  • Your Passions
  • Your Hope
  • Your Resourcefulness
  • Your Energy to Execute

My Challenge to You:

Try This Pattern Interrupt Next Time You See Your Weeds

  • Yell STOP IT!
  • Clap your hands.
  • Stand up
  • Think about something more positive. Take a relaxing walk, sit on the porch, do something to put your mindset in a more positive place.

Join me on the Global Wealth Leaders Conference Google Hangouts!

Have you ever felt like you’ve been knocked down, beaten up, or unhappy in your business? Perhaps you’re not making as much money as you thought you would by this period in your career are just unsatisfied but can’t really put your finger on why.

Hundreds, if not thousands, of smart, successful, high-achieving women in business go through a phase like this and in today’s society, there’s a lot of attention on finding “quick fix” solutions.

Ladies, I’m here to tell you today that, in reality, there is no quick fix solutions in building a business. You need to be resilient and motivated!

On today’s episode, I talk about the importance of resilience – of getting back up after being knocked on your butt to get back on that horse. I’m also going to share the number one “short cut” to building your resilience so you can be more prepared the next time you feel like you’ve fallen off the horse.

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • It is critically important to cultivate resilience in ourselves and our businesses
  • There are no “quick fix” solutions in building a business
  • When people are unhappy despite everything else in their life going right and being successful, it is often due to a major focus on themselves.
  • When people are connected to a vision that is greater than they are, they tend to be happier and exhibit much more resilience.
  • Make your motivation bigger than just you reaching your potential.

How to Reconnect To Your Business’ Vision and Gain Resilience:

  • Remember your “why.” Why are you in this business? What motivated you to create this vision? What drives you in the day to day practices of running your business and working with clients?
  • Think about the opportunities you’d like to create and present for your family and how your earning potential is closely related to those opportunities.

Are you struggling to get more clients? Have you gone into debt in order to launch your business – an idea you are incredibly passionate about and are finding it difficult to achieve success or grow? You may be thinking to yourself, “If I keep an abundance mindset, it will all work out in the end.”

On today’s show, I want to discuss the abundance mindset and why you can’t ‘abundance mindset’ your way into a smart business strategy. Growing a business requires a variety of tasks and having this mindset can certainly help – it is not the “be all, end all” solution to building a successful business and career.

If you build your business on an ‘abundant mindset’ without a solid plan, you’re building it on very shaky ground.

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • It’s critical that you have a positive relationship with money and cultivate an abundance mindset, but it is not the only thing you need to build a solid, successful business.
  • Business is like a language. You have to know how it is structured.
  • When it comes to the critical success factor in your business, it comes down to sales and marketing.
  • Business is a game of strategy.
  • You can’t grow your business by continually investing in your technical skills or becoming super tactical about everything.
  • There are three ways to grow a business. If you choose one of the three, you will experience geometric growth. If you choose two or more, you will experience significant growth.

The 3 Ways to Grow a Business:

  1. Get more clients.
  2. Increase the average unit of sale or average transaction. (i.e.: increase your rates)
  3. Increase the frequency of purchase.

My Challenge to You:

  • Focus on strategies that help you execute on one or more of the three ways to grow your business.
  • If you do not have a clear path to one of those three strategies starting tomorrow – stop what you’re doing and focus on clearing that path.

Have you ever found yourself saying “This shouldn’t be this difficult?” Have you ever caught yourself feeling frustrated while trying to make an important decision or find a solution to a problem?

One of the most exciting things I experience as a coach while working with clients who are fierce, high-performing feminine leaders is that each month I can almost always spot a trend. This month’s trend with many of my clients have been that these fierce, strong, capable women are experiencing a phenomena called “Limiting Thought.”

So, today on the show, I want to share a story with you. A story about something that happened to me not too long ago that made me realize that I, too, was experiencing the ‘limiting thought’ phenomena. I’m going to share with you what I did to overcome it, and why it is so important that you connect with your own inner tough love mentor during times when you are experiencing the limiting thought phenomena.

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • The phenomena called “limiting thought” is a specific belief or belief system that blinds you – paralyzes you – to what is actually possible. It makes you believe a false sense of reality.
  • Our beliefs are by far the greatest limitations we face.
  • Hard things often fool us into believing that you no longer want what you said you wanted.
  • Don’t live the lie that you don’t want something just because it’s hard. Doing hard things builds character, gives you experience that others don’t have. If you want something – give it your best effort. You can do hard things.

My Challenge to You:

  • Think about a time in your life when there was something that you really wanted, but you pushed it off because it was hard.
  • Clearly identify what it is that you want and determine why you want it.
  • Find your inner Shaniqua – do what it is you really want to do, regardless of fear or limiting thought.

There is a lot of content created and published across the internet that is meant to help women, business executives, and entrepreneurs find a higher sense of success; to inspire and empower them to achieve their dreams. But there’s one piece of advice that is fundamentally important, yet rarely talked about.

Owning what you know. Living with conviction.

Dolly Parton defined it best when she said that the life of conviction “is about figuring out who you are and doing it on purpose.”

Today, I want to share with you why knowing who you are, knowing what you know, and projecting confidence, conviction, and staying clear on your point of views is vitally important to the overall success of your life, your business, your career.

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • The state of knowing has a deep impact on your ability to break through and uplevel your business and career.
  • Owning what you know is the fundamental key to having greater impact and influence with your clients, colleagues, and other influencers.
  • Influential people want to hire, promote, and buy from women who project confidence, conviction, and have a clear point of view.

When You Own What You Know:

  • You feel less overwhelmed
  • You project greater energy
  • You are seen as a credible expert in your field
  • You have a broader impact
  • You are able to command more money and access to more opportunities

My Challenge to You:

  • Let go of the things that are holding you back from owning what you know.
  • Be clear about what you want – and go after it.

Special Announcement:

This Fall, I have two private coaching spots open!

If you are ready to:

  • Own your ambitions.
  • Transform your sense of self to make room for success and self-significance
  • Create & CRUSH your goals to create a legacy you are proud of

I encourage you to reach out to us! Fill out this brief form to apply for a coaching session with me, Eleanor Beaton!

I speak with countless Fierce Feminine Leaders every day. These are highly successful, motivated, driven women with great achievements under their belt, but often feel stuck in whatever it is they are doing.

They may be unhappy because they want to achieve greater things; they yearn for something more, something different, something meaningful, but they struggle with making the decision to go after what they want.

Ladies, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – we give our power away when we avoid making decisions.

On today’s episode, I want to talk to you about how to get “unstuck” in your life, your business, your career. I want to help you move past whatever is holding you back, whatever has you feeling stuck. I want to empower you to determine what it is that is holding you back, and figure out how to get out of the quicksand that is limiting your sense of success.

Areas where women often give their power away:

  • Deciding to start a side business
  • Deciding to pivot their business into a new area
  • Deciding to invest in a new training program
  • Deciding to take a sabbatical
  • Deciding to go on a trip or on vacation
  • Deciding to recommit to their health
  • Deciding to train for a marathon

Take a look at where you’re making decisions – or not making decisions. Then, close the loops. – Eleanor Beaton

Ask Yourself:

  • Where in my life right now am I not making decisions?
  • What do I really want?
  • What limiting beliefs or mental thoughts do I need to declutter, let go of, and close the loop on?

My Challenge to You:

  • Get quiet with yourself
  • Think about where in your life you are not making decisions or avoiding making decisions
  • Get out there and make a decision around it.

The quality of your life and your experience is directly connected to your willingness to make decisions – and own them!

Have you ever been in the situation where you are the expert, but you don’t feel like you are presenting yourself as an expert? Perhaps you feel like people are doubting your expertise even though you know deep down that you are an expert in your field – you know your stuff.

This happens a lot for high-performing, high-achieving women – especially when they are in the early years of growing their business.

So, what can you do to improve your communication and deliver the message that you are the high-achieving expert in your field?

Provide statistics.

On today’s show, I explain how knowing your killer statistics and how sharing those statistics with your audience can help you drive home the message that you are trying to deliver as well as where you can research to find relevant numbers about your topic or area of expertise if you are unsure of what those numbers are.

“When you have the relevant numbers about the industry or problem you are trying to solve – your point of view, your argument, becomes very difficult to dismiss.” – Eleanor Beaton

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • What are “killer statistics?”
  • What are some examples of statistics to use in your communication strategy?
  • Why are statistics so important in everyday and business communication?
  • Where can you go to gather information and research statistics in your industry, field, or on the topic you are going to discuss?
  • How many statistics should you have for your presentation, speech, in your marketing or workshops?
  • Where to use your killer statistics within your business?

Where to Use Your Killer Statistics:

  • In your speeches
  • In your workshops
  • In your marketing plans
  • On your LinkedIn profile
  • In your everyday conversations
  • Simply put…. use them everywhere!

My Challenge to You:

Find your killer statistics. Use them in everything you do for your business or career.

Are you ready to make a change in your life, your career, or your business? I’m talking about really ready to unlock your potential - to step into your power and achieve your dreams?

  • The Law of Attraction is a load of B.S. if it’s not accompanied with the Law of Congruency.
  • Actions speak louder than words. If you want something, you have to act on it. It doesn’t happen by magic.
  • Harboring self-doubt and fear negatively impacts your growth.
  • The key to living in congruence is having the ability to call your own bluff, committing to attaining your goals, and performing the actions necessary to achieve them.

4 Examples of Committing Yourself To YOU:

  • Cut back on your children’s extracurricular activities like sports and cheerleading to commit time for yourself.
  • Commit to investing in the accountability and support you need to actually launch the new product you’ve been talking about, planning, and designing for weeks, months, years.
  • Commit to getting the coaching you need to move past your fears and achieve the success you’ve been dreaming about.

Today, I’m joined by one of the most inspirational women I know throughout the business and finance industry, Barbara Stanny. I have followed her work for many years, and, after reading her book Sacred Success: A Course in Financial Miracles, I was inspired so much by the information and insight she shared that I just had to reach out and ask her to be a guest on the show.

Barbara is a highly successful female in the finance industry. She is a best-selling author, having authored six books, is a highly-sought after speaker and coach, workshop facilitator, and has spent years as a journalist writing in the financial niche. She grew up in a wealthy family; her father is the “H” in H&R Block, but after a devastating financial bout due to her husband’s gambling addiction – she lost all of her inheritance and was forced to figure out her own path to financial freedom.

Today, Barbara shares her journey through the ups and downs of her financial success, the fears she had to overcome, and the inspiration she is determined to use to empower other women to gain control over their life, their power, and their financial freedom.

“When you learn to face what you fear; it can never control you again.” – Barbara Stanny

Let’s be honest with ourselves for a moment. Have you ever felt like you were reaching the “burnout point” in your business or career despite the fact that you love your work? Have you noticed your business skyrocket beyond your imagination, becoming highly successful and being invited to amazing events, engagements, or projects, but caught yourself wanting to spend time sipping wine in front of the television instead of doing the tasks you’ve been asked to perform?

Perhaps you’ve questioned whether you’ve slipped into the “Imposter Syndrome” even though you are consistently providing high-quality work.

Many high-achieving women around the world feel this way – especially when they are up-leveling in their business or career. This is not a case of Imposter Syndrome, nor are you going through a burnout phase.

Instead, you are outperforming your self-image.

Rest assured, many women experience this – sometimes multiple times throughout their careers.

Today, I want to share with you the story of when I was outperforming my self-image, how I felt it was affecting my work and the quality of my work, and how I overcome this obstacle.

“Confidence is the belief that you are up to the challenge.” – Eleanor Beaton

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • Up-leveling in your business or career can significantly challenge your self-worth. Don’t fear it. Embrace it.
  • Your ego is meant to protect you – to keep you safe – but it can’t tell the difference between an animal attack and criticism.
  • If your self-worth is not matching up with your quality of work, your skills, your life, and your business, you are going to experience problems.
  • You are capable of greatness, but you have to align your self-image with your potential.

If you are serious about aligning your self-worth with your potential, and to truly step into your fierce, feminine power, I encourage you to reach out!

If you want to learn what it takes to align your self-image with the incredible underlying potential you have as a Fierce Feminine Leader, visit EleanorBeaton.com/Discover and apply to my Feminine Mastery Discovery Session!

Have you ever found yourself going into a meeting with the intention to stay quiet and observe what others are doing, listening to what your colleagues and peers are saying, instead of speaking up and asserting your own opinion? This is common with many women in business.

“Women are often less likely to speak up, to step into their power, because they feel their perceived competence and compensation may take a hit.” – Eleanor Beaton

Madeleine Albright, in 1993, was heading to her first Security Council meeting as the new U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. with the intention of staying quiet throughout the meeting to observe her male counterparts. To figure out “who was who” and identify who she could consider as an ally. She quickly discovered, however, that by not asserting her opinion, by merely observing others during this meeting, she was positioning herself – and the United States – to not have a voice in the important topics being discussed. She realized that she represented the voice of the United States.

“When it comes to influencing power, voice matters.” – Eleanor Beaton

If you have experienced this desire to be a spectator at a meeting, to remain quiet instead of stepping into your power at the boardroom table or meeting with clients – know that you are not alone. But, remember, without speaking up, your views, your opinions, your amazing ideas cannot be heard or discovered!

So, how do you find and assert your voice?

Here’s a Breakdown of Today’s Show:

  • Sometimes our voices are silenced by ourselves.
  • Women are often less likely to speak up, believing that our perceived competence and compensation can take a hit.
  • Interesting statistic: of the top-ranked podcasts on Stitcher, 71% of podcasts are hosted by men while only 11% are hosted by women. This is despite the fact that over half of all listeners are women.

How to Master the Art of the Set-Up:

  • Be bold. Be assertive. Be professional – “I’m going to be very blunt, and it may be difficult to hear, but it is critical that I offer some specific feedback.”
  • Choose to link your directness to your underlying values – “Honesty and integrity are important to me, so it is vital that I express my opinion directly.”

My Challenge to You:

  • Lean into your power.
  • Speak up, even when it may be difficult for others to hear.
