We’ve made it to the end of the mega year that is 2020 and many of you are thinking about how to make 2021 a growth year. You want to make it a departure, a powerful year, a fun year. Well, the one way to do that is by reducing complexity.

Complexity creeps into your life and business in very subtly, sneaky ways. Before you know it, an onboarding process that could be done in 13 steps suddenly takes over 100. That’s what happened to me until I learned how to reduce complexity.

You won’t make 2021 your biggest growth year by going faster and doing more. That frenetic, unfocused energy just amplifies inefficiency and allows complexity to move in. The thing you need to do requires patience and deliberation.

Today on the podcast, I expose the master of business complexity, scarcity mindset, for what it is and delve into why so many smart businesswomen fall into this trap. Operating from a place of lack, fear, and not enough makes your business processes more complex. If you want to really streamline your processes and create a clear path to growth, you must reduce complexity. And in this episode, I show you exactly how to do that.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • How I cut out 87% of the complexity in my onboarding process.
  • Why scaling your business also includes scaling the complexity.
  • Why it has to be you, the CEO, who makes the cuts.
  • What contributes to business complexity in the first place.
  • How the opposite of scarcity isn’t abundance.
  • The importance of honoring where you’re at and being patient with yourself.

Finding and cultivating relationships with profitable business partners is one of the most lucrative activities you can do in your business. And quite frankly, it's one of the best rewards. So why is it that so many women waste their time with terrible partnerships?

When I see clients waste time on partnerships that aren’t fun, productive or profitable, I know what’s likely going on. Sometimes, we get lulled into partnerships not because they’re strategic, but because we don’t have the confidence to achieve the goal on our own.

My guest today, Ebere Akadiri, is an expert at cultivating strategic partnerships and creating fun and effective collaborations. Not only has she run multiple successful businesses, but she has a similar goal to me, helping more female entrepreneurs become successful. This is one of the many reasons we work so well together.

Today on the podcast, I’m interviewing Ebere on her journey to entrepreneurship and her advice for other women entrepreneurs looking for strategic partnerships. Collaboration is one of the cornerstones of female micro-economies, and women like Ebere can teach us all a thing or two about finding these partnerships and nurturing them so everyone succeeds.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • Why we sometimes join partnerships that aren’t successful.
  • How leveraging partnerships can help you grow your brand.
  • Ebere’s experience as an entrepreneur.
  • How to maintain business continuity alongside changes in your family.
  • How Ebere created the Rise and Lead Conference and found partners.
  • The most important ingredients in a successful partnership.

While the hoards have been busy wishing away 2020, arguing over the science of masks and the legitimacy of shutdowns, something truly astounding has been happening before our very eyes. People are saving.

Amidst the upheaval caused by COVID-19, the decline of the airline industry and the hotel and hospitality industries, from an economic perspective, what has resulted is fascinating. Households, individuals, and companies have been putting away cash. Not for a rainy day, but for when they can trust the future again.

When that trust returns and we have a renewed confidence, I believe there will be a “Pent Up Cash” Extravaganza. And we need to be prepared for it. Is your business prepared for when people start buying again? Are you even thinking about that time?

In today’s episode, I share a mini economics lesson that all business owners need to understand right now. Consumers will spend again, and the way you position yourself now matters. I’m sharing how you can prepare for the coming “Pent Up Cash” Extravaganza and ensure your business is positioned well to receive it. It’s true that fortune favors the bold, but it also favors the prepared.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • Why consumers haven’t been spending as much during the pandemic.
  • A mini economics lesson on the personal savings rate.
  • The reasons why the savings rate increased.
  • Why confidence in the future is a critical gauge of consumer spending.
  • How vaccines affect the economy and our cash savings.
  • How to position yourself for growth in 2021.

You know you are supposed to have a strong personal brand, but what does that even mean? And more importantly, how do you evolve your personal brand as you grow and as your company grows?

There is a lot of confusion and overcomplication around marketing from your personal brand or from your company brand. Which voice should you use, and how do you separate them? I’m going to address this confusion in today’s episode, and take it a level deeper to help you evolve further.

There is one thing that the most elite personal brands and top influential leaders have in common. It isn’t the time they wake up or how they organize their schedules. It’s not even in the product or services they sell. It’s inside of them.

On today’s podcast, I’m delving into what makes a personal brand successful and how you can nurture yours into an evolved, elite position in the market. Evolving your personal brand goes hand in hand with personal development. So, I’m sharing how powerful your personal reputation is for your company’s success, some ways to nurture your eccentricities, and how you can achieve the highest level of a personal brand.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • What a personal brand is and how it evolves over time.
  • One of the foundational principles of personal development that you need to know.
  • Where we go after the discovery phase of personal branding.
  • The highest evolution of a personal brand.
  • Some examples of notoriously eccentric leaders.

Are you gearing up to make your 2021 business plan? If you’re a listener of this show, you probably enjoy planning to some extent, which is a really good thing. Studies show that businesses with a plan in place grow up to 30% faster than businesses that don’t.

Nov 24, 2020

I am so excited to share my conversation with my fabulous guest with you all today. She’s mouthy, she’s outspoken, and yes, she is rich. She’s one of my earliest coaching mentors who showed me how fun can be a powerful leadership and growth tool.

Susan Hyatt is a master certified coach, bestselling author, podcast host, CEO of 3 companies, and a self-made millionaire. Not only is she an amazing example of what’s possible, but she is also a powerful teacher in the art of fun and pleasure, both of which help us become better leaders.

When it comes to standing up for what she believes and advocating for others, Susan isn’t shy. Her bold, outspoken nature inspires millions of women to use their voices and defy societal pressures. Why focus on losing weight when we can focus on smashing the patriarchy?

In our conversation, we dive into Susan’s journey from killer real estate agent to mega-successful business coach. Women are constantly being told, and have been told throughout history, that they can’t experience pleasure. Susan defies messaging like this and empowers her audience to do the same.

Today on the podcast, I interview Susan Hyatt on building a coaching business, finding your path, and infusing pleasure into every single day. We break down her experiences with sexism and learn why she’s so fearlessly bold. She’s sharing why leaders need to incorporate more fun creation into their teams and why lacking willpower isn’t our problem as women. If any of my episodes were to inspire you to be bold, this one is it.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • Why Susan believes women lose our boldness and how we can get it back.
  • Susan’s experience with social silencing and sexism.
  • Why she became a coach and how she found her path as a coach.
  • How to ensure your strategy never impedes your mission.
  • Why she continues to offer one-on-one coaching.
  • Why women tend to deny themselves pleasure.

Have you noticed all the dancing and pointing on Instagram reels lately? Women are dancing and pointing and the algorithms are loving it, which is why so many smart marketers whom I adore are doing it. It works. However, I won’t be dancing and pointing any time soon.

Cooperating with and leveraging the power of what’s working right now, especially on major social media platforms, is really smart and I recommend it. Yet when I recently sent an email to my list about why I won’t be dancing and pointing on Instagram, I got an unprecedented response.

Here’s the thing. When you get attention and engagement on social media, you grow your online presence, and you also help Mark Zuckerberg grow his massive algorithm-based ecosystem. That can be great, but wouldn’t you rather grow your own ecosystem?

In today’s podcast, I’m sharing my funny-but-true perspective on why I won’t be shaking my booty for Mark Zuckerberg any time soon, and how you can hone your own voice, brain, and creativity for your own ecosystem. Sweet listeners, I want to help you uncover your voice and practice using it so that you can scale your business. Listen in to learn how I can help you do just that.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • Why dancing and pointing is a smart marketing tactic on Instagram.
  • The specific reasons that women leaders tend to suffer in silence.
  • What makes me feel better when I'm struggling.
  • The deep sense of conflict I feel about social media.
  • Why you never see male entrepreneurs dancing and pointing.
  • How I can help you unleash and hone your distinct voice.

There are things you say and then there are the messages you send. These are not always the same thing. You could be sending potentially damaging subliminal messages to your audience if you aren’t conscious of this one thing: consistency.

Now, I know, consistency is about as glamorous as oatmeal. But, it’s not only crucial for building your business, but it seriously impacts the message you send your audience. And it’s something I see business owners working towards 7 figures struggle with.

There are tons of valid reasons why you might not be showing up like you used to for your audience. The pandemic has been so rough on business owners. You could be burnt out, feeling low, or stuck in all or nothing thinking. Here’s the thing: you don’t have to be doing everything to maintain consistency.

Today on the podcast, I’m helping you see the message you’ve been sending your market when you don’t show up consistently. Maybe you’ve stopped posting on social media or you don’t turn your Zoom camera on for meetings anymore. These small actions matter, so I’m sharing what you can do to improve your consistency even when things feel really hard. The struggle is real, but so is the damage you cause to your business when you stop showing up.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • The connection between market leadership and consistency.
  • Some examples of what inconsistency might look like for you.
  • The subliminal message you are sending to your market.
  • Why you might not be showing up consistently.
  • What to do when you’ve been inconsistent.
  • Why knowing what your bare minimum is, is so crucial.

Have you ever noticed how people are always willing to listen to experts, but they only buy from leaders? Experts have a way of complicating things whereas leaders bring a sense of clarity and order. And we all know that the confused mind can’t buy.

How do you position yourself as a leader in the mind of your prospect? Many of us are experts in our fields, but if you want to move into leader status in your industry, you need one super important type of order, and that’s buyer discipline.

The best leaders and salespeople can make you feel like the only one in the room. They connect with you which is what allows them to have so much influence. By focusing on one person, they cut through the clutter. All it takes is injecting a little buyer discipline into your marketing.

Today on the podcast, I’m talking about another element of discipline that seriously affects your lead generation and sales conversion: buyer discipline. You can make a way bigger impact by naming names instead of focusing on a target audience. I’m sharing what happens when you end the confusion, get clear in your messaging, and put a ring on your person and not an entire demographic.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • The difference between experts and leaders.
  • How to move into leader status.
  • How to stop confusing your customers.
  • Why you need to name names, not entire demographics.
  • How to inject some buyer discipline into your marketing.

When it comes to building and leading a company, there are no body doubles. It is all on you. And the more you learn to shed your fear of vulnerability, the more you open yourself up to the full experience that is entrepreneurial leadership.

Knowing that it’s all on you to take risks for your business can be daunting. But, we have to lean into our businesses harder, even when that means we might fail or embarrass ourselves. Because here’s the thing: you will fail and you will embarrass yourself.

From my personal experience, I know that going all-in, going full-frontal, on your devotion to your business is so much more rewarding than hiding from vulnerability. No matter what, failure is coming for you. And the woman you become on the other side is so worth the discomfort.

Listen in today as I share why I strive to not fear vulnerability but instead, go full frontal with my devotion to my business. We received an unprecedented number of emails and messages about last week’s episode, my conversation with Barbara Huson about getting wired for wealth. So many of you were thanking us for that conversation and sharing your thoughts on aiming for wealth instead of riches.

One of the things that really stood out to me in that interview was Barbara’s dedication to her focus, to her zone of genius. She has spent three decades working with women on rewiring their mindsets for wealth. We talk a lot about niching down and nailing your message here, and to say she is an expert would be an understatement.

I know so many of you were inspired by Barbara to achieve wealth in your own businesses. If that’s you, it’s time to stop dickering around doing all the things, serving all the people, and start focusing on just one thing. It’s time to have zone of genius discipline.

In today’s episode, I’m unpacking what it means to have zone of genius discipline and showing how Barbara’s body of work is a perfect example of the success that comes with specializing. There’s a tremendous temptation to be a generalist these days, but I invite you to imagine what your life would be like if you had the courage to dive deeper, niche down, and sink further into your zone of genius.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • How Barbara is making a massive impact by focusing on her zone of genius.
  • Why it takes courage to let other things go so you can focus on your zone.
  • The success you can have when you niche down consistently over time.
  • Why becoming a generalist waters down your brand and power.

Many of us women entrepreneurs are focused on making money in our businesses. We want to make sales, but are we actually building wealth? Money and wealth are not necessarily the same thing, and my guest today is sharing how powerful it is to rewire your brain to see the difference.

Wealth is about attaining sacred success, fulfilling your soul’s purpose, and being financially rewarded for it. As you hustle and grind for the next sale, do you feel aligned with your soul? It may seem like making money is all about numbers, there’s also a spiritual aspect to it that we often neglect.

My guest today, Barbara Huson, is a brilliant money coach for women entrepreneurs and the author of multiple books, with her newest one coming out in January. Barbara grew up rich, but it wasn’t until she lost everything and rediscovered her power that she became wealthy. We’re having a super fun conversation about what women need to do to rewire their brains for wealth.

Listen in today as Barbara and I talk about women, wealth, and power. We’re diving into the evolution of her body of work and what she’s been exploring recently that has led her to help women rewire their brains for wealth. At the end, she does some live money mindset coaching with me that I think will seriously benefit a lot of you. It left me feeling a little vulnerable but I know how important it is for you all to hear her amazing insights and advice.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • How Barbara got started on this path from rich to wealthy.
  • What sacred success means and how to pursue it.
  • Why money challenges actually have nothing to do with money.
  • What wealth is and why it’s so important.
  • The 3 step process to rewiring your brain.

If you don’t want to just go fast but also go far, then you need to build and manage an amazing, high-performing team. Unfortunately, there is so much BS out there that holds women back from being really excellent leaders who know how to produce business results through a team.

Most people want to be the CEO of a business, but they don’t want to manage a team. It makes sense; learning how to manage can be challenging and it’s not always as fun and sexy as being the visionary. But I know from experience that having a team in place has really given me the opportunity to step into my role as a CEO more than ever before.

We’re getting real and raw today about building and managing teams. My guest is an expert in this field and is THE thought leader and expert on entrepreneurial management. Kris Plachy has over 25 years of experience managing and coaching leaders and has poured her life’s work into guiding leaders to successful team management. Through her new program, How to CEO Like a Boss, she’s helping women CEOs become pros at this vital skill.

Tune in to the show today to hear Kris and I talk all things leadership and team management. There is a difference between the two, and you’ll have more success if you master both. We’re having a bold, fun, tough-minded conversation on how not to suck at managing a team. Our frank discussion about ceo-ing and managing people will give you the motivation to make your first hire or find the courage to manage better. Kris is sharing insights from her years helping CEOs become better managers and tips for you to improve your skills.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • Why leaders often want to be visionaries but not managers.
  • The difference between leading and managing.
  • Why there’s no escaping managing if you’re an entrepreneur.
  • The skill Kris says is most important to develop if you want to lead.
  • How a freelancer mindset compares to an entrepreneur and CEO mindset.

What do you envision when you picture your company in 10 years? Are you making more money, serving more people, and living a more elevated life? I know many of you think about this, but are only planning how you can grow your business by 50 or 60 percent.

2020 has been a year for the record books in so many ways. If I’ve learned anything from this year it’s that life’s most brutal experiences show us what we are truly made of and open the door to unprecedented growth, impact, and fulfillment.

For many women, we believe that we can’t be successful without suffering. That those brutal life experiences are what allow us to thrive. But my guest today would argue that you don’t have to prove your dedication through pain, hustling, or grinding. Being strategic and trusting yourself are enough.

I am having a very raw, very real, and very fun conversation today with my colleague, Heather Chauvin. Heather is a leadership coach and strategic parenting expert who helps ambitious women become leaders at work and at home. Drawing from her professional experience as a social worker and her life experience raising 3 boys, Heather has created a signature approach to focus her clients on sustainability, profitability, and ease.

Listen in today as Heather and I discuss what it was like to be diagnosed with cancer and how that changed her mindset around work, success, and family. We’re diving into the problems with the hustle mentality and why it’s our job to teach people how to treat us. As Heather says, you don’t have to suffer to be successful. To be a leader at home and in your business, it’s about learning to trust yourself and focus on becoming the person you desire your child to be. This episode has so many great insights for you on running a business, overcoming challenges, and becoming the leader you want to be.

  • The “epidural” Heather used to numb herself and how she overcame it.
  • Why the concept of non-attachment was crucial in creating her podcast.
  • Why Heather’s million-dollar minute idea is some of the best advice I’ve ever heard.

If you want to launch, scale, and eventually sell your business, understanding what investors are looking for is important. Entrepreneurship is like leaping blindly into the unknown and having the confidence in yourself to know you’ll figure it out.

As my guest today says, there’s no better job than creating what’s in your head and sharing it with others. And recognizing that you don’t need to know how to do everything off the bat is key.

Many service-based businesses start with a freelance model. You sell a contract, provide the service, over and over again. And you can make decent money doing this, but at some point, you’re going to burn out or even go broke. The key to avoiding these outcomes is by changing your pricing model so you can increase your profit margin.

A good profit margin allows you to invest in new technologies, hire amazing people, and build up a cash reserve which will eliminate a ton of stress. Building up profit is really a tremendous gift you can give yourself. And, you have more control over it than you think.

When I work with service-based entrepreneurs who are ready to take their profits to the next level, I see them fall into a lot of the same pricing traps. They get stuck in their freelancer mindset and have difficulty switching to the mindset of a 7-figure CEO. But if you really want to scale and grow, you need to escape that mindset, and I can show you how.

In this episode, I’m sharing one of the biggest pricing traps I see service-based business owners fall into and how you can free yourself from freelancer pricing. I want to help you make the shift to premium pricing where you’re doing work that you love, not burning out, and you’re making a ton of money and profit. Remember, if you price yourself like a freelancer, that’s how the market will continue to see you. I’ll show you how to transition your brand position through pricing so you can start making the money you want and deserve.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • All the benefits that come with good profit margins.
  • The difference between a high touch 5-figure offer and an SFSO.
  • Why service-based entrepreneurs get hung up on being affordable.
  • What CEO pricing is and its four components.
  • How to divorce your pricing from your time.
  • The deep mindset work required to go from a freelancer mindset to a CEO mindset.

Have you ever looked at the competition in your industry and noticed that your following, database, or subscriber list is way smaller than everyone else’s? You want to make more sales, but don’t want to ruin your reputation with those high-pressure sales tactics. Don’t worry, help is on the way.

When I transitioned into coaching, selling wasn’t easy. Quite frankly, it was like a whole new language. I quickly learned that selling hard isn’t about being pushy or forcing people into joining your lists. It’s about structure and positioning.

I use a lot of basketball references in this episode to explain the importance of positioning in your business. Rebounders in the game are always looking for where the shot is coming from and where it’s going to bounce to. Then, it’s about positioning yourself to catch the rebound. In this way and many others, basketball is a lot like sales.

In this episode, I’m sharing how you can sell harder without ruining your reputation with high-pressure sales tactics. You don’t have to feel gross about selling if you understand how to position your offers in a way that ascends your customers from one level to the next. I’m talking about setting yourself up to get the rebound, releasing the pressure you put on yourself to sell harder, and ascension creation. The things I share today are some of the ways I was able to build a seven-figure business with a much smaller list than most of my colleagues. I did it, so I know you can too.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • Why rebounding in basketball is just like positioning yourself for a sale.
  • How mastering positioning is crucial for success in sports and in business.
  • How to position yourself correctly for the sale.
  • The importance of knowing our customers’ next-level wants.
  • What creation ascension is and how to plan out milestones.
  • The gorgeous organization principle that allows you to sell hard consistently.

No stranger will get in your car and ride with you if you aren’t clear where you’re taking them. In marketing, we call this destination the ‘promised land.’ It’s where your customers want to go based on what you tell them in your messaging about your brand, offerings, products and services.

Of course, the concept of the promised land isn’t just used in marketing. It’s found in Greek mythology, Nordic mythology, and most religions. As humans, we’re obsessed with getting to the final destination. It’s why we watch before-and-after transformation shows. We want to see what the promised land looks like and how we can get there.

If you aren’t clear on your offering’s promised land, why would a customer hop on board for the journey? When marketing your business and your offerings, you want to take time to get clear on what the promised land you offer is. What is the promised destination your customer wants to arrive at?

Listen in today as I spell out how you can dramatically improve your marketing by clearly articulating your promised land to your customers. I’m breaking down the allure we as humans have to promised lands and how to tap into that innate interest in your marketing. Are you struggling to take your business to the next level? Perhaps you have a killer marketing strategy and a business that fulfills and excites you. Yet for some reason, your prospects aren’t buying what you’re selling. One of the most common reasons for this problem is that you don’t believe.

If you don’t believe in your offerings, your prospects’ abilities, or yourself, your customers won’t either. The truth is, to sell more you need to believe harder. But it’s not as simple as showing up for your business every day. Belief takes more than just showing up, and there are three different categories of belief that you need to focus on.

In my coaching, I see tons of women entrepreneurs who lack belief in these different categories and it directly impacts their sales. Some of you are marketing an offering you don’t actually want to deliver. Some of you don’t believe your prospects can get the results you want to guarantee. And many of you simply don’t believe that you have the power to do the selling.

In today’s episode, I’m sharing the three categories of belief that you need to have in order to sell more. The harder you believe in these categories, the more you will sell. I give some real examples of each belief and the ways you can work through your limitations. And, I take you through an exercise to evaluate your level of belief in each category so you know where you can improve. If you want your prospects to believe what you’re marketing so you can sell more, start with believing harder.

Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast:

  • The 3 types of beliefs that you must cultivate in order to sell more.
  • How to elevate your belief across these 3 categories.
  • Why I always pay attention to feelings of freedom and constriction.
  • Why so many of us have a Superwoman Complex and how it affects our teams.
  • How believing in yourself is a learned skill.
  • An exercise for evaluating your belief levels and ways to improve.
